The MLB postseason got started last night with the Nationals taking the NL Wild Card with a wild come-from-behind 4-3 win over the Brewers. The AL Wild Card is set for tonight with the Tampa Bay Rays (96-66, No. 7 in the Dunkel Index) taking on the Oakland A's (97-65, No. 5). Both teams come into the contest hot with Tampa Bay going 20-8 down the stretch, while Oakland finished the regular season with an 18-7 record. The A's took the season series, 4-3. Veteran Charlie Morton (16-6, 3.05) will get the start for the Rays, while A's manager Bob Melvin has decided to go with Sean Manaea (4-0, 1.21) on the mound over veteran Mike Fiers. The NHL is back and the 2019-20 regular season gets underway tonight with four games on the schedule, including the reigning Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues hosting the Washington Capitals. The core of the Blues title team is back with the only significant losses occurring when winger Pat Maroon went to Tampa Bay in free agency and they traded defenseman Joel Edmundson to Carolina for Justin Faulk. Week 4 in the NFL wrapped up Monday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers picking up their first win of the season, 27-3, over the Cincinnati Bengals. And Week 5 in college football saw Clemson narrowly escape a major upset by hanging on to a 21-20 win over North Carolina after the Tar Heels failed on a two-point conversion in the last minute. It didn’t cause the Tigers to lose their top ranking in the latest Dunkel College Football Index, though. In fact, the tighter race is between Nos. 2 and 3 where Ohio State has closed the gap with Alabama considerably with its strong start, the latest coming in a 48-7 domination of Nebraska on the road.
