The Houston Astros find themselves down 2-1 in the World Series at the moment. Last night, they couldn’t find an answer for the Philadelphia Phillies at all.
After losing 7-0, it’s time to go back to the drawing board and ignore the loss. Houston can be an incredible team, but they need to show it by earning a win tonight.
The Philadelphia Phillies are a few steps away from having a World Series title. First, however, they have to get a win over the Astros in Game 4.
Yesterday, they dominated the Astros, but can they do it in back-to-back games? Who the Phillies have at the starting pitcher position could be a problem, though. Let’s take a look at each team and make our pick for this evening.
Houston Astros: Astros need to get their batters going early
Down 2-1 in the series, the Houston Astros need to get a win tonight. After last night’s 7-0 loss, morale is pretty low, but a win could turn the series around.
Houston is sending out Cristian Javier, who had an 11-9 record during the regular season. He posted an ERA of 2.54 during that time with 194 strikeouts. They’ll need Javier to have a strong game against the Phillies.
As a team, the Astros have a batting average of .248 with an on-base percentage of .319. Unfortunately, the Astros were unable to successfully get on base and score runs yesterday.
In Game 2, however, the Astros were able to pull off a 5-2 win over the Phillies. If they can get their offense going early, they could pull off a win.
Philadelphia Phillies: Phillies will start Aaron Nola
The Philadelphia Phillies are sending out SP Aaron Nola. Nola posted a record of 11-13 this season with a 3.25 ERA.
His under-.500 record is a cause for concern, especially against the Houston Astros. He threw the fourth-most strikeouts during the regular season (235), but he’s had several inconsistent games.
The Phillies will look to their batters to save them again tonight, similar to Game 1. As a team, the Phillies rank seventh in runs (747) and eighth in batting average at .253.
They have a slugging percentage of .422, ranking sixth in Major League Baseball. Leading the team in batting average during the regular season is Alec Bohm, who posted a .280.
Houston Astros vs. Philadelphia Phillies Betting Pick
The Phillies have the better batting lineup in this game by far. After last night’s game, it’s clear that the Astros will need to be at their best. The good news is they’re winning the pitching battle in this game with Cristian Javier on the mound.
Between these two teams, we think the Houston Astros are the better selection. They have a few great batters, but the real key is pitching. Look for the Astros to bounce back in Game 4 and pull off a win over the Houston Astros.

Prop Picks
Houston (-120) OVER 3.5 Runs
Houston is averaging 4.52 runs per 9 innings on offense, which ranks No. 9 in MLB. That average remains relatively steady at 4.48 runs per 9 innings on the road. Scores have gone OVER in four of the Astros’ last five road games against the Phillies.
With Dunkel predicting a Houston win by the score of 5-4, take the Astros (-120) to finish OVER their team total of 3.5 runs against the Phillies.
Christian Javier (-135) OVER 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed
Philadelphia is averaging 4.65 runs per 9 innings on offense, which ranks No. 7 in MLB. That average increases to 5.03 runs per 9 innings at home.
With Dunkel predicting the final score going OVER the Vegas run total, take Javier (-135) to finish OVER 1.5 earned runs allowed versus the Phillies.
