The other conversation to be had is Ben Simmons’ return to Philadelphia. He likely won’t be welcomed warmly, but it could drive him to do better. We’ll have to wait and see how he responds.
The Philadelphia 76ers are sitting right at .500 this season with an 8-8 record. They’re 5-5 at home and haven’t really been able to separate themselves from the crowd.
The problem is they have a ton of players on the injury list, which we’ll go over below. Coming in as eight-point underdogs, let’s take a look at both teams before making our pick.
Brooklyn Nets: Nets come in without one player injured
The best news for the Brooklyn Nets right now is that not one player is sidelined with an injury. This is huge, as it’s one of the only times they haven’t had a player on the injury report.
Just a few days ago, the Nets pulled off a 127-115 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. They outscored one of the best teams in the league to improve their record to 8-9.
Prior to their win over the Memphis Grizzlies, the Nets took down the Portland Trail Blazers. By winning 109-107, the Nets proved they could play strong defense too.
Their opponent tonight is missing several players, so that will definitely impact the game. One big question that we have is whether they can cover the eight-point spread tonight.
Philadelphia 76ers: Embiid ruled out for tonight’s game
The Philadelphia 76ers will be without their best player as they head into tonight’s game. Along with Embiid are Jaden Springer and Tyrese Maxey, who have both been ruled out.
Shooting guard Furkan Korkmaz has also been ruled out for tonight’s game. They’ve gone 3-2 over their last five games and have a few notable wins under their belt.
One of these wins was against the Milwaukee Bucks a few nights ago. They also found a way to beat the Utah Jazz and Atlanta Hawks. All of this happened while they were dealing with several injuries.
In one word, the Philadelphia 76ers are resilient. We’ll see just how resilient they can be when they face Kevin Durant and the Nets.

The Nets come in as eight-point favorites, quite the spread to cover. To be fair, they’ve done it before; beating the Memphis Grizzlies is an example of it.
However, the Grizzlies and the 76ers are vastly different teams. So far, the 76ers haven’t let up, even with the injuries they’ve suffered.
The 76ers are also being spotted eight points, which should definitely help. In our opinion, however, we think the 76ers will be able to pull off a close win here. Even with Embiid sidelined, this team has proven its ability to win.
