This was evident in their game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Heading into halftime, the 49ers were down 14-13. However, their offense couldn't keep up with the Chiefs in the second half, and they ended up losing 44-23.
If they want to beat the Los Angeles Rams, their offense has to do some of the heavy lifting. They can't rely on their defense to win this game.

The Rams were down 10-7 at the end of halftime but scored 10 points in the third quarter. By the end of the game, they won 24-10 and moved to 3-3 on the season.
The key here is that their defense didn't allow a single point in the second half. Matthew Stafford also protected the ball well, something he'll need to do again.
If he can't protect the ball, there's a strong chance the Rams will lose. Utilizing their running game more will help them avoid turnovers. They currently rank 31st in rushing yards per game with just 70.5 yards per game.

The San Francisco 49ers might seem as if they're the better choice at first glance. Their defense ranks ninth in the NFL in points allowed per game (19). However, after seeing what happened against the Chiefs, we think the Rams are a better choice.
The Rams' offense has struggled at times but came alive last week. They found a way to score 17 points in the second half of a game while allowing zero points.
The Rams actually come in as 1.5-point underdogs, so we like the pick even more. Look for the Rams to pull off a big win over an NFC West opponent tonight.
