WNBA Rankings

The WNBA season continues to move along. With the NBA going, the coverage is not as widespread as we would like to see it, but expect that to change as things start to slow down. One thing we do know - the league can play and full of exciting players and entertaining teams. Let’s take a look at the most recent WNBA rankings put together by the Dunkel Index. This time, we will start at the bottom:

12. Indiana Fever -- The Fever are 1-5 on the season, with their lone win coming May 23rd at home to the Mystics.
11. Washington Mystics -- The Mystics are coming off a nice 85-69 win. The win was over the Fever, though. One bright spot has been Tina Charles. She scored 30 in the win and extended her streak of 30+ point games to three.
10. Atlanta Dream -- After losing their first two games, Atlanta has come back to back to back wins. Now, they will play three out of their next four on the road. After taking on the Wings, they will travel to New York to take on the Liberty and then back to back in Minnesota.
9. Los Angeles Sparks -- Los Angeles is 0-2 on the season. Both losses this season have been blowout fashion. This team will need to improve and improve quickly if they want any shot at being competitive.
8. Minnesota Lynx -- The Lynx have yet to win a game this season. In the three losses, Minnesota is scoring just 76 points per game. The problem on the defensive side is they are allowing 84 per game. The Lynx will have a tough go at it, as they are in Seattle on Friday and host the Sun on Sunday.
7. New York Liberty -- Not a ton of love for the Liberty, despite their 5-1 start. The lone loss this season came May 21st at the Mystics by 29 points. New York will finish May with a home game against the Dream before welcoming Las Vegas to town on June 3rd.
6. Chicago Sky -- Chicago has split their first two games of the season. The last loss to Atlanta was a tough one, despite getting 17 points from Diamond DeShields. DeShields is averaging 16 points per game over her last three games. The Sky get back to back home games with the Sparks before home and away games against the Mercury.
5. Phoenix Mercury -- The Mercury are off to a 2-3 start, including back-to-back losses. However, the most recent loss saw big things from Brittny Griner, who scored 27 points and record 11 rebounds. That was a big bounce back from her tough night on May 21, where she scored just 6 points.
4. Dallas Wings -- Dallas has gotten off to a slow start with losses to the Sun, Storm, and Liberty, but overall - the Wings know they have the talent. The two most recent losses came by an average of 5 points per game, so they are staying competitive. They get a trip to Atlanta Thursday before back-to-back home games.
3. Las Vegas Aces -- The Aces are 3-2 to start the season following their win on Wednesday over Phoenix. Las Vegas’s first loss of the season came to the Storm, and then they battled back to beat them three nights later. This is an elite team, especially when Chelsea Gray is on her game. She’s averaging more than 14 points per game over her last four.
2. Connecticut Sun -- The Sun had their 5 game winning streak to start the season snapped in overtime. Jonquel Jones has been dynamite for the Sun, with double-doubles in each of the first five games. The Sun will host the Mystics on Friday before playing at Minnesota on Sunday and then back home for three straight games.
1. Seattle Storm -- The Storm have won three straight games, including an overtime affair on Saturday over Connecticut. Seattle has been anchored by Jewell Loyd, who has scored 17+ in each of the first five games this season, along with over 5 rebounds per game. Seattle plays four more home games before going on the road on June 9th.
