WNBA Rankings

20 May 2021

The WNBA season is underway for the 2021 season. We expect it to be a frantic season, with some interesting matchups and, of course, fantastic play. The first rankings are out. Here is a look at the recap of the WNBA Rankings for the Dunkel Index.

  • Seattle Storm - The Storm still come to the top of the rankings despite their blowout loss at home to the Aces. Top to bottom, this team still has a great roster and will be one to deal with all season long.
  • Connecticut Sun - The Sun have made quick and easy work of their first three opponents to start the season. They are winning games by an average of 10 points per game in the early going.
  • Las Vegas Aces - Consistency is going to be key for the Aces. After getting smacked in Seattle to start the season, the Aces came back with a blowout win in Game 2. Much like Seattle, this is going to be another team that, if they get going - will be tough to stop.
  • Dallas Wings - The Wings have played in just one game this season. They came away with a 94-71 win over the Sparks to start the season. Dallas was led in the game by 23 points from Alisha Gray.
  • Phoenix Mercury - The Mercury have won 2 out of their first three games. The most recent win was a blowout win at Washington. Phoenix saw Brianna Turner have a big game recently with 10 points and 14 rebounds. She will be a double/double machine all season long.
  • Chicago Sky - Chicago has won their first two games of the season. In those wins, the Sky are shooting 49.1% from the field. Chicago got 18 and 10 in the recent win from Ruthy Hebard.
  • Los Angeles Sparks - Los Angeles has just played one game so far this season. That one game was a tough 23 point loss at home to Dallas. The Sparks will need to defend better if they want a chance in 2021.
  • Minnesota Lynx - Minnesota was downed by 2 at home to the Mercury and then by 11 on the road at New York. Minnesota will have a tough test to get back on track as their next three games are against Seattle, Seattle, and Connecticut.
  • New York Liberty - The Liberty have taken advantage of back-to-back wins over the Fever and then over the Lynx. The schedule will get tougher for New York as the season moves along.
  • Washington Mystics - The Mystics are off to an 0-2 start after a Tuesday loss to Phoenix. Washington allowed 91 points in the loss and will be a topic of conversation going forward for the team.
  • Atlanta Dream - The Dream will look to pick up their first win Friday on the road in Indiana.
  • Indiana Fever - The Fever were competitive in their first two games but got blown out Wednesday at the Sun.

Once again - be sure to head over to the Dunkel Index rankings page and see the most up to date WNBA rankings. We look forward to putting  bow on them each week and discussing how the teams are playing as of late. Heading here to see the rankings!
