Tennessee Titans at Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview/Player Prop

Two of the best teams in the NFL are slated to matchup in Week 9 in a game that will be seen nationally on Sunday Night Football. The Los Angeles Rams host the Tennessee Titans in what could ultimately be a Super Bowl preview.

Tennessee comes into this game with a record of 6-2, and the Titans have actually picked up four straight wins. This team was supposed to contend for the AFC South title, but the Titans have already opened up a big lead.

Los Angeles has also won four straight games, including a 38-22 win over the Houston Texans a week ago. The Rams are trying to keep pace with the Arizona Cardinals atop the NFC West standings.

The Los Angeles Rams are 7.5-point favorites over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday Night Football.

Titans Must Change Gameplan

The Titans have had a simple formula over the last few seasons, and that is to get the ball to Derrick Henry and let the running back lead the way. Henry has racked up 937 yards and ten touchdowns this season, but an injury could for his season to be over.

Without Henry, more pressure now falls on the shoulders of quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill has thrown for more than 2,000 yards this season, but he has also been known to throw the ball to the other team.

The Titans defense is giving up over 24 points per game, and that unit gave up 31 a week ago. Tennessee must get stops, especially in the secondary, if they have any intentions of winning this game.

Rams Looking to Throw

This is the first season in Los Angeles for quarterback Matthew Stafford, but he has played extremely well in a Rams uniform. Stafford has thrown for nearly 2,500 yards this season, and Los Angeles is going to attack Tennessee through the air.

Running the football has been a challenge at times for Los Angeles, but Darrell Henderson Jr. has more than 500 yards. Los Angeles will want to take some big shots down the field, but it must also find a way to chew up some clock.

The Rams just acquired linebacker Von Miller in a trade, and his presence will improve this defense. Los Angeles is giving up just 21 points per game, but that unit has struggled against some of the better teams.

No Henry, No Problem For Tennessee

Losing Derrick Henry would be a huge problem for any team, but the Titans have already proven that they can win when their superstar has a bad day. Ryan Tannehill and the passing attack of the Titans will give the Rams’ secondary plenty of trouble in this game.

Los Angeles has won four straight games, but they were playing some pretty bad opponents during that time. The Rams are going to give up some yards on defense, and that will allow Tennessee to keep this one close.

Look for Tannehill and the Titans passing attack to come up with some big plays late to steal this game on the road. Bet the Tennessee Titans moneyline as they head into Los Angeles and pick up a Week 9 win.

Ryan Tannehill (-122) Over 1.5 TD Passes

The loss of Derrick Henry to foot surgery means a greater load will fall on the arm of QB Ryan Tannehill.

Henry is the league’s leading rusher with 937 yards and a big reason why the Titans’ run-oriented offense is averaging 147.6 ypg on the ground this season. Tennessee added free agents Adrian Peterson and D’Onta Foreman to go along with backup Jeremy McNichols in an attempt to fill the void. But there’s no question the offense will have to look to throw more without Henry to rely on.

Tannehill’s stats so far this season are not overwhelming. He’s completed 172 of 262 passes for 2,002 yards and 10 TDs against seven INTs. But the former first round draft pick out of Texas A&M showed an ability to put the team on his back when he replaced Marcus Mariota at QB back in 2019 and revived a stagnant offense even with Henry.

He followed that up with a career-high 33 TD passes (against only seven picks) as well as over 3,800 yards last year.

As Tennessee begins a new season of sorts without Henry, we’ll take Tannehill (-122) to step up tonight and throw for over 1.5 TDs.
