Major League Baseball Rankings

24 May 2021

We move to the final week of May. The dog days of summer will be here! We have a few teams that are separating themselves from the rest of the division. On both sides - the positive and negative side. It’s nice to see fans back, and the players certainly agree with that. Let’s take a look at the most up-to-date Dunkel Index Major League Baseball rankings!

Top of the Rankings are Streaking

The top teams of the Major League Baseball rankings are streaking! The San Diego has won 9 straight games, the Los Angeles Dodgers have won 7 straight games, and the Tampa Bay Rays have won 10 in a row. Those three teams are absolutely on fire. The Padres have moved to the top spot in the rankings, as they hold a single game lead on the Dodgers and are 2 up on the Giants. The Dodgers are second in the rankings, with a 29-18 record. The Rays, with their 10 straight wins, have moved up to 4th in the rankings, while the New York Yankees are 6th in the rankings and have won 6 straight games!

Top 10 Showdown

The Chicago White Sox host the St. Louis Cardinals in a three-game series this week. These two teams not only lead their division but also sit in the Top 10 of the rankings. Despite getting swept by the Yankees, the White Sox are #8 in the rankings, while the Cardinals, who lost 2 out of 3 at home to the Cubs, are #9. St. Louis is ahead of the Cubs, who are 14th, and Milwaukee, who sits at 15. In the American League Central, the Indians are 11th, and the Royals come in at 19th.

Tight NL East

The National League East is incredibly tight. There are 5 teams within 2.5 games of each other. The New York Mets hold a 1.5 game lead on the Braves and Phillies, while Miami is 2 games back and the Nationals are 2.5. The Mets are ahead in the rankings at 13th, while Atlanta is at #16 and Philadelphia 17th. The Braves have been a mess this season and sit at 16th, while Miami is 18th. The Nationals are last in the rankings as well, sitting at 20th.

New Team at the Bottom

Rocco Baldelli and his Minnesota Twins have reached a new low. The Dunkel Index has placed them at the bottom of the rankings. The Twins are -24 on the season but have allowed 237 runs, which is the second-most in all of Major League Baseball. Only the Angels have allowed more runs this season. Just ahead of the Twins, avoiding the very bottom of the rankings, are the Diamondbacks, Tigers, Orioles, and Pirates. The Rockies have avoided the bottom 5 with their 25th ranking.

There you have it! That’s a nice look at the most up-to-date Dunkel Index Major League Baseball rankings. We will be back at the start of next week with another look at what happened over the last week. Enjoy the season, and best of luck to your team. If you missed the rankings, be sure to check out where your favorite team sits here!
