CFL Week 9 Betting Preview

We have reached Week 9 of the 2023 CFL season, and the action is only going to continue to get better from here. There is another loaded slate of games in Week 9, and some of the games will have a big impact on the playoff races. 

There does appear to be one team that is better than all of the rest, but the other teams in the league appear to be pretty competitive. That should lead to some great games this weekend and will create an even bigger logjam in the standings. 

Here is a quick Dunkel pick and prediction for all of the Week 9 games that are set to take place. 

BC Lions at Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The action in Week 9 kicks off with a huge matchup in the West Division as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers host the BC Lions. Winnipeg is entering this game as a 4.5-point betting favorite despite trailing BC by one game in the standings. 

Both teams should have a big offensive game in this one, and Winnipeg is coming into this game with some rest. The Lions already beat the Blue Bombers by a score of 30-6 earlier this season, and that wasn’t a fluke.

Look for the 6-1 BC Lions to win again, and taking them on the moneyline is the way to go in this matchup. 

Toronto Argonauts at Calgary Stampeders

The 6-0 Toronto Argonauts are set to take on the 2-5 Calgary Stampeders this weekend, and the betting spread is as expected in this one. Toronto is a big eight-point betting favorite despite being on the road, and all this team does is win games. 

Calgary has gone just 1-4 in their last five games this season, and they are also 0-3 so far on their home turf. The Stampeders give up a ton of points, and that’s not going to work out well against an explosive Argonauts team. 

Bet on Toronto at -8.0 as they roll to a double-digit win. 

Montreal Alouettes at Hamilton Tiger-Cats

The Montreal Alouettes are 2.5-point betting favorites on the road this weekend against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Montreal is currently sitting at 3-3 in the standings, while Hamilton brings a 3-4 record into this matchup. 

The overall numbers for each team are pretty similar, and both the Alouettes and Ticats are trying to chase down Toronto. There will be some desperation by each team in this matchup, and it’s going to lead to a good game.

Montreal just has too much talent for Hamilton, and taking them at -2.5 is the way to go in this one. 

Ottawa Redblacks at Saskatchewan Roughriders

A pair of 3-4 teams are set to meet up in Saskatchewan as the Roughriders will be hosting the Ottawa Redblacks. Ottawa is a slim one-point betting favorite in this game despite being on the road in a tough environment. 

Saskatchewan got off to a fast start to the season, but they have also now dropped three straight games. The Roughriders are facing a good Ottawa team in this one, and the Redblacks should be able to do some scoring. 

Take Ottawa at -1.0, as they are able to come away with the win.
