CFL Week 18 Betting Preview

04 October 2023 By Cole Paganelli

While much of the focus is now on the start of the 2023-24 NFL season, this is the time of year in which action in the CFL is really starting to heat up. Playoff races are getting tighter throughout the league, and the best teams are trying to find a way to stay on top of the action.

Just like every other week in the CFL, you are going to see four games that combine teams from different divisions. Some games might have some bigger betting spreads than others, but the CFL has continued to produce exciting games every single week.

Here is a Dunkel pick and prediction for all of the Week 18 CFL games that are set to take place this weekend.

Edmonton Elks vs. Toronto Argonauts

Time: 7:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Edmonton 105.171; Toronto 124.046
Dunkel Line & Total: Toronto by 19; 55
Vegas Line & Total: No Line
Dunkel Pick: N/A

The Argonauts suffered just their second loss of the season last week at Winnipeg, 31-21. The Elks had the week off following a 37-29 loss to BC that snapped their two game winning streak.

Toronto doesn’t really have anything to play for the rest of the regular season, but this team is still extremely talented. The Argonauts should bounce back with a decisive win in this one.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. BC Lions

Time: 10:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Winnipeg 121.338; BC 113.967
Dunkel Line & Total: Winnipeg by 7 ½; 59
Vegas Line & Total: BC by 2; 50 ½
Dunkel Pick: Winnipeg (+2); Over

The tightest betting spread this weekend is going to take place in BC as the Lions are a slim 2.0-point betting favorites over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Most CFL games tend to be close when the final buzzer sounds, and there is every reason to believe that this one will be the same.

Winnipeg has the look and feel of a team that is going to be streaking to the finish line, and they are facing a tough matchup in this one. But taking the Blue Bombers at +2.0 is clearly the way to go.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders

Time: 7:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Hamilton 101.090; Saskatchewan 117.569
Dunkel Line & Total: Saskatchewan by 16 ½; 52
Vegas Line & Total: Saskatchewan by 4; 49
Dunkel Pick: Saskatchewan (-4); Over

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders this weekend, and the home team are slim 3.5-point betting favorites in this matchup. This can be a hard game to handicap as both teams have been a bit unpredictable, and going with the home team is clearly the best option.

Hamilton is coming off a 22-15 win over Calgary, but they just haven’t been able to play with enough consistency this season. Saskatchewan is going to find a way to win this game, and taking the Roughriders -4.0 is the right bet to make.

Ottawa RedBlacks vs. Montreal Alouettes

Time: 1:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Ottawa 112.203; Montreal 111.149
Dunkel Line & Total: Ottawa by 1; 51
Vegas Line & Total: Montreal by 6 ½; 47 ½
Dunkel Pick: Ottawa (+6 ½); Over

The last game of the schedule is going to take place on Monday as the Ottawa RedBlacks are set to visit the Montreal Alouettes. Montreal is a solid 6.5-point betting favorite in this matchup, but that doesn’t always mean much in a game during a game this time of year.

Montreal needs to win this game to gain some momentum moving forward, and the Alouettes are the better offensive team in this game. But the RedBlacks have covered in two of their last three games and looks to have enough offense to hang around in this game. Betting on the visitors plus the points is the way to go.
