CFL Week 17 Betting Preview

There are just five weeks remaining of the 2023 CFL season, and Week 17 is going to be one that is filled with great matchups. Playoff races in each division continue to tighten up, and some teams are in a position where they simply must win games. 

Just like with every other week in the CFL, you are going to find some great betting matchups as well. Here is a look at each of the four Week 17 games, with a Dunkel pick and prediction included for each matchup as well. 

Toronto Argonauts vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Time: 8:00 pm ET

The top two teams in the league are set to meet up this weekend when the Toronto Argonauts visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Winnipeg is actually the betting favorite in this matchup, and Toronto has already clinched the East Division title. 

While the Argonauts don’t really have anything to play for in this matchup, this is a chance for them to show just how good they are. Winnipeg might be a slim betting favorite in this game, but taking the Argonauts on the moneyline is going to be the play in this one. 

Saskatchewan Roughriders at BC Lions

The BC Lions are 9.5-point betting favorites over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Week 17, and this game looks like a big mismatch. BC is trying to improve their chances at hosting a playoff game this season, and they have been playing well of late. 

Saskatchewan is going to be trying to play the role of spoiler the remainder of the year, but it's not going to be easy. The Roughriders have some real issues on defense, and taking the BC Lions at -9.5 is clearly the right play in this one.

Montreal Alouettes at Ottawa Redblacks

The Montreal Alouettes head to Ottawa on Saturday for a matchup with the Redblacks, and the visitors are 2.5-point betting favorites. Montreal was finally able to snap their long losing streak, but things won't get easier this weekend. 

Ottawa has yet to beat a team from the East Division this season, but at some point, that offense will get the job done. This should be one of the best games of the weekend, and taking the Redblacks on the moneyline is the bet that you want to make. 

Calgary Stampeders at Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Time: 7:00 pm ET

Vegas Line & Total: Hamilton by 1 ½; 47 ½

If you are looking for the matchup with the tightest betting spread in Week 17, then you should look no further than this game. Hamilton is set to host Calgary to wrap up the Week 17 action, and the Tiger-Cats are 1.5-point betting favorites at home. 

This is also a matchup of two teams that are extremely difficult to figure out, but both teams should be able to score some points in this game. It might not look like this game will matter much in the standings, but all of these players will be leaving it out on the field. 

This is another game in which the underdog will get the job done, and taking Calgary on the moneyline is the right play.
