CFL Week 14 Betting Preview

The last few weeks in the CFL season have produced some interesting results, and the playoff races are heating up because of those results. There are some games this week that will impact those races while some of the top teams try to continue to get some separation. 

You always have to take injuries into account when we get this deep into the season, but it should get a bit easier to handicap each game. Here is a look at each of the four games set to take place in Week 14, with a Dunkel pick and prediction for the matchup.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Ottawa Redblacks

The two worst teams in the East Division kick off the action this weekend as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats visit the Ottawa Redblacks. Hamilton suffered a loss in their most recent game, while Ottawa has dropped five straight games. 

The betting odds for this game still favor Ottawa by three points, but that line just doesn’t feel right based on recent trends. You are going to want to take the three points and back the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in this matchup.

Montreal Alouettes vs. Toronto Argonauts

Time: 1:00 pm ET

The Montreal Alouettes travel to Toronto to face the Argonauts in what will likely be a preview of a playoff game. Montreal is heading in the wrong direction as they try to give Toronto their second loss of the season. 

Toronto is a big 10.5-point betting favorite in this game, but you shouldn’t expect them to blow out their rivals by that much this weekend. Montreal is at least going to make them work for the win, and taking the points is the way to go. 

Toronto is still going to get the win, but there will be some tense moments for the home team in this one.

Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are big 7.5-point betting favorites at home this weekend against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. This is a critical game in the West Division, and the Roughriders are coming into this game with some momentum. 

This is actually a rematch of a Week 13 game that was won by Saskatchewan, but things are going to be much different this time around. Winnipeg is going to put on a show on offense in this game as the Blue Bombers not only win, but they win by double digits.

Calgary Stampeders vs. Edmonton Elks

Time: 7:00 pm ET

The two bottom teams in the West Division will wrap up the CFL action this weekend, and there won’t be much anticipation for this game. Calgary was a winner in Week 13, while Edmonton has won just two games all season long. 

Edmonton is a 1.5-point betting favorite in this game, and they have finally proved that they can win a game in their home stadium. Calgary is a team that simply gives up way too many points on defense, and that will bite them in this game.
