CFL Week 20 Betting Preview
18 October 2023
We have reached the penultimate week of the 2023 CFL season, and there are just three games set to take place this weekend. There will be one game on the schedule on Friday night and then a pair of games on the slate on Saturday.
With the CFL Playoffs coming quick, the playoff-bound teams are looking to get things in order for a deep postseason run. There are actually some big betting spreads for the matchups this weekend, but that doesn’t mean that great games can’t take place.
Here is a quick look at each of the three games this weekend and a Dunkel pick and prediction for each matchup that is on the schedule.
Calgary Stampeders at BC Lions
Time: 10:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Calgary 101.907; BC 120.116
Dunkel Line & Total: BC by 18; 44
Vegas Line & Total: BC by 8 ½; 50
Dunkel Pick: BC (-8 ½); Under
This will be the third meeting of the year between the Calgary Stampeders and BC Lions, and there has been one team in control so far. BC has owned Calgary so far in the season series, but that last matchup of the year came all the way back in Week 10.
Both of the teams in this matchup need a win for playoff purposes, but it’s just hard to see the Stampeders keeping this game close. This just isn’t a great matchup for Calgary, and they are going to have a tough time stopping the Lions.
BC needs to come up with a win on Friday night, and they are going to have a big night of offense in this game. Take the BC Lions at -8.5, as they are going to roll to a double-digit win in this matchup.
Toronto Argonauts at Saskatchewan Roughriders
Time: 2:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Toronto 113.514; Saskatchewan 109.548
Dunkel Line & Total: Toronto by 4; 46
Vegas Line & Total: Toronto by 9 ½; 50 ½
Dunkel Pick: Saskatchewan (+9 ½); Under
The Toronto Argonauts visit the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday, and there isn’t much on the line for the visitors in this one. Toronto has been the best team in the league all season long, and they are simply looking to finish the year with momentum.
Saskatchewan has suffered six straight losses, and they are on the verge of an epic collapse in missing the postseason. The Rougriders are 9.5 point underdogs in this matchup, and that’s shocking considering that Toronto will be resting some players.
Saskatchewan is desperate enough to put up a good fight in this game, but that’s really all to expect in this game. Take the 9.5 points and bet on the Roughriders, but it’s the Argonauts that win this game.
Edmonton Elks at Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Time: 7:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Edmonton 107.273; Winnipeg 122.453
Dunkel Line & Total: Winnipeg by 15; 55
Vegas Line & Total: Winnipeg by 11; 50
Dunkel Pick: Winnipeg (-11); Over
The final game of the weekend will feature the Edmonton Elks visiting the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday night. Winnipeg is an 11-point betting favorite in this game, and this should be a game in which they should control.
This is the final game of the season for the Elks, and members of this team are probably just ready to get to the offseason. Edmonton was actually able to win a home game this season, but it was still another disappointing campaign.
Winnipeg still has something to play for, and they are going to have a big performance in this game. Take the Blue Bombers -11, as they are going to put up a dominant performance in this matchup.
