Zurich Classic of New Orleans Betting Preview

19 April 2022

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans has become one of the most fun events in golf to watch. The best players in the world will get together in pairs to see who will win this event.

Many of the usual betting favorites are in contention again for the market odds. Below you can see which duo has the best shot to win.

Date: April 21-24
Course: TPC Louisiana
Where: New Orleans

Betting Overview

Since 2017, the Zurich Classic has moved to a two-player format. This means golfers will have a teammate to alternate shots with and whoever has the best score on the first and third days.

Many golfers will break out in scoring bunches for this event simply because players will complement one another. In fact, one particular duo might have a better chance to win despite their world golf rankings compared to other favorites.

Head to Head Matchup to Watch

The Leishman/Smith (-31.548) duo competing against the Palmer/Scheffler (-33.019) duo is one of the most intriguing matches this year. Smith already has two victories here over the last four years.

As for Palmer and Scheffler, Palmer has a win, and Scheffler will attempt a victory off of his Masters win. Taking the combo of Leishman/Smith could prove to be successful, but the other combo is a nice addition too.

Golfers That Could Win

Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele (-35.431) are some of the best golfers in the world that you could possibly pair together. Cantlay has lost twice this season to a playoff, while Schauffele has played fairly consistently.

Viktor Hovland and Collin Morikawa (-34.076) are another pair that could surprise in this tournament. Morikawa has shown lately that he means business, but Hovland has had issues with his iron game all season.

Sam Burns and Billy Horschel (-32.363) are rising stars for this challenge. Burns has quickly moved up to the 10th world golf ranking while Horschel is 13th. For their value and how well they complement each other on a purse, it is potentially a good value pick.

Potential Winning Pick

Ryan Palmer and Scottie Scheffler (-33.019) are one of the favorite pairs to win the Zurich Classic. As mentioned, Palmer had a victory with Jon Rahm a few years ago.

Palmer is a unique pair to play along with Scheffler because you have the 85th best golfer in the world teaming you with the current best player overall. Many would potentially overlook this duo.

However, Scheffler has been on a tear this season, winning four out of six tournaments that he has played in. As for Palmer, he thrives in this tournament.
