Wyndham Championship Betting Preview

Following the excitement of the PGA Championship, the golf world moves to Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship. The last four seasons, the winner has been better than -20, so birdies are a must. J.T. Poston won this event a season ago. Simpson has dominated this event, with two first place finishes, including the 2018 event, but his recent form is a bit of an issue. We are going to avoid him, and his odds on favorite to win at +1000. Here is a look at some guys we like this weekend:

Tommy Fleetwood +1400

Some thought Tommy was going to be the winner in San Francisco, but he really struggled through much of the weekend. His 70 on Day 1 and Day 3 really put him behind the eight ball. He did finish in the Top 30, but due in large part to his amazing 64 on Day 2. Tommy has been in the Top 10, twice this season, with a second place finish back in January. Fleetwood has the skills, but can he birdie enough to come away with the title?

Patrick Reed +1600

Patrick Reed has been pretty steady, but nothing elite lately. In fact, it’s been since June that Reed has finished inside the Top 10. He did win in Mexico back in February. Reed wrapped up Sunday with a final round 66. That could be a good start to a great weekend in North Carolina. Reed was the winner of this event back in 2013.

Paul Casey +1800

Paul Casey had a great chance to take down the PGA Championship, but Collin Morikawa became unbeatable. With a great weekend, Casey moved up to 54th in the FedEx Cup standings. That’s a big jump, and he will look to keep making the jump with a strong weekend in North Carolina. Casey has made the cut 10 out of 12 times this season.

Justin Rose +1800

Many think it’s time for the Justin Rose breakout. It would not surprise us. After three straight weeks of poor place, he bounced back with a 9th place finish last weekend. Rose’s numbers are a little down, wth just 50% of made cuts, but he has the ability to go low for four straight days.

Others in Consideration:

Jordan Spieth +3400

Maybe we are suckered into the old Jordan Spieth, but listed at +3400 seems like pretty good value for a former major champion. Too many bad holes for Spieth as of late has really put him in bad spots to contend for championships.

Abraham Ancer +2600

One of the young studs on tour. Ancer is fun to watch. He finished last weekend 43th in his first PGA Championship. Before that, he saw 14th, 2nd, 11th, 58th and 15th on the tour. He has made the cut 16 out of 18 times, and has 5 Top 10 finishes. Ancer should be around the top of the leaderboard on Sunday.

Harris English +2700

English has fared well as of late, with 7 out of his last 8 events inside the Top 20. Nothing has been real close outside of his 9th place finish in March, but still his form has been pretty solid. English finished with a fourth round 66 to set the tone.

Sergio Garcia +4000

The 40 year old Garcia has been pretty effective this season only missing the cut in two events, while placing as high as 5th at the RBC Heritage. Last weekend was not strong, with his 121st place finish. But, Garcia is always a name to think about when looking at making money on the PGA Tour.
