Betting Overview

Sedgefield Country Club is located in Greensboro, North Carolina. The course does not play long at all, as it is a Par 70 and roughly 7,130 yards.

Players that have great averages for strokes gained and excellent iron play will exceed here. This course definitely relies on a second shot to get where you are going.

Head to Head Matchup to Watch

JT Poston (-39.911) and SW Kim (-39.958) both have victories in this event. Poston won back in 2019, and Kim won in 2016, so Poston has seen success here as of late.

Poston has one of the best birdie or better ratings looking at the last 24 rounds entering this event. In addition, he has played solid golf to lead up to this event.

Golfers That Could Win

For a field that is not that strong and for the money, Russell Henley (-40.332) deserves some attention. He is currently the 54th best golfer in the world and has been playing great as of late.

He was just one stroke shy of being a part of the six-man playoff that occurred here last year. Looking at recent play, he is coming off of a 10th-place finish at the Rocket Mortgage classic.

Shane Lowry (-35.599) has appealing odds and success leading up to this event. Overall, he ranks ninth compared to the players with the best strokes gained averages in the field.

In fact, he ranks second in strokes gained approach over the last 24 rounds. With that in mind, he could make up ground quickly if he struggles out of the gate.

Potential Winning Pick

JT Poston (-39.911) has previous success at this event and has played consistently coming into this one. For this event, he ranks fifth in birdie or better gained over the last 24 rounds and fifth in Par 4 ratings.

He is currently ranked as the 62nd best player in the world and is steadily moving up. He is also coming off of a T11 at the 3M Open.

Prop Picks

Top 20 Finish: Russell Henley (+110)

Henley used the week off following the Open Championship to his advantage as he finished in a tie for 10th last week at the Rocket Mortgage. On the season, Henley now has 9 Top 25 finishes in 19 tournaments. He ranks No. 10 in birdie average (4.25) and No. 6 in greens in regulation percentage (70.75%).

Rated No. 9 in this week’s Dunkel Index, take Henley (+110) at plus money for another Top 20 finish.

Tournament Matchup: Shane Lowry (-110) OVER Will Zalatoris

Lowry has been knocking on the door for his third PGA title with a 2nd and two 3rds to his credit this season. Overall, the pro from Ireland has 9 Top 25 finishes in 15 events. He ranks No. 5 in scoring average (69.448).

Zalatoris has also been close to picking up his first Tour title with three 2nds to his credit this season. But he has been in a bit of a “slump” for him after missing the cut at the Scottish Open and following it up with a tie for 28th at the Open Championship and tie for 20th at the Rocket Mortgage. Zalatoris ranks No. 15 in scoring average (69.903).

With Lowry rated No. 1 in this week’s Dunkel Index and Zalatoris at No. 4, both these golfers have a good chance at closing out the regular season with a victory, but take Lowry (-110) to have the edge in this high-level matchup.

Tournament Matchup: Denny McCarthy (+100) OVER Brian Harman

McCarthy missed the cut at last week’s Rocket Mortgage, but prior to that had three Top 10 finishes in the previous four events, including a tie for 7th at the U.S. Open.  He ranks No. 17 in scoring average (69.948).

Harman will be making his first appearance since a tie for 6th at the Open Championship. He missed the cut in two of the previous five tournaments leading up to St. Andrews. Harman ranks No. 36 in scoring average (70.249).

With McCarthy rated No. 5 in this week’s Dunkel Index and Harman at No. 17, take McCarthy (+100) at plus money to get the better of this matchup in Greensboro.
