Workday Charity Open Betting Preview

The PGA Tour heads to Ohio this week for the Workday Charity Open. This tournament will feature seven of the world’s Top 15 players.

Muirfield Village Golf Club will be the host of this event, as well as the next event, as the PGA Tour rolls along. Let’s take a look at some of our top betting picks for the big event, according to the Dunkel Index.

Top Contenders

1. Jon Rahm (+1400)

Rahm is in fantastic shape to take this course down. While his recent form has not been excellent, he still has five Top 10 finishes this season. The recent form has seen back-to-back finishes in the 30s.

But, this is a course that is built for the big man from Spain. Rahm did not play in the Rocket Mortgage Classic, so his weekend off hopefully has him ready to dominate in Ohio.

2. Patrick Reed (+2800)

Another guy that has not been great, but falls in the due category is Patrick Reed. Reed finished after two rounds at the Rocket Mortgage. That came after his 24th-place finish at the Travelers.

Reed has a win this season, in Mexico, and five other Top 10 finishes. All of them came before the shutdown of golf. Look for Reed to get back on track at a course he seems to prefer.

3. Joaquin Niemann (+4000)

His final day at the Travelers did not go as planned. After shooting 68, 66, and 68, he carded a 75 on the final day to drop him near the bottom of finishers. But, that’s coming after a fifth-place finish at the RBC Heritage.

Niemann played well in almost every regard of the game except for SG: where he lost over six shots to the field. He needs to clean that up to have success in Ohio this weekend.

4. Justin Rose (+2500)

The veteran from England has only played in nine events this season and made the cut in five of them. It could be a lack of confidence for Rose, after missing the cut at the Travelers, and not playing in Detroit.

But, he can look back on his back-to-back weeks of 14th and third to regain that confidence. Rose has done a nice job of late with SG: tee to green, as he ranked fourth at his most recent tournament.

Others in Contention

Gary Woodland (+4000)

The former Kansas Jayhawk golfer is out to prove a little bit after a couple of mediocre, at best, performances. Woodland has six Top 10 finishes and has made the cut in all but two events this season.

Xander Schauffele (+1800)

Schauffele is looking for his first win on tour this season, but he has not been shy about competing. He has five Top 10 finishes and has made the cut in every event outside of the Farmers Insurance back in January.

Collin Morikawa (+2800)

Morikawa finished second to Daniel Berger at the Charles Schwab, but then went 64th at the RBC and failed to make the cut at the Travelers. This is another guy that has the ability to really go low, and contend for a title.

Brooks Koepka (+1400)

Koepka sat out the last two events due to his caddie, Ricky Elliott, testing positive for COVID-19. Koepka has not found his old form of dominating the course quite yet, but the last couple times out, there have been more signs that his game is coming around.
