Vegas Line & Total: Philadelphia by 10 ½; 44
Dunkel Pick: Washington (+10 ½); Over
The Washington Commanders have a record of 4-5, with a 2-2 record on the road. With several players sidelined, they'll face the best team in the NFC.
Going against a division rival won't be easy, but the Commanders have pulled off a few upsets. With Taylor Heinicke under center, the young quarterback is facing a tough test today.
The Philadelphia Eagles haven't lost a single game this season. With a record of 8-0 and a 4-0 record at home this season, the Eagles are playing incredibly well.
Jalen Hurts leads the team into this game, but the Eagles have a lot of points to cover. With a 10.5-point spread, the Eagles will need all they can get from their offense and defense.
Washington Commanders: Heinicke needs to protect the ball
There is no denying that Taylor Heinicke plays with a lot of passion. The problem is that his gunslinger tendencies can get him in a bit of trouble. Last week, against the Minnesota Vikings, he threw a key interception.
The Commanders also allowed the Vikings to score 13 points in the fourth quarter. Part of the Vikings' comeback is credited to Heinicke's interception.
This week, they're playing a much more well-rounded team than the Vikings. As a team, the Commanders are averaging just 17.7 points per game.
In this category, they rank 27th in the NFL. They do have a pretty solid defense, though, allowing just 21.3 points per game. Being spotted 10.5 points definitely helps, especially against the Eagles.
Philadelphia Eagles: Eagles looking for a ninth-straight win
There's no arguing about who the dominant team in the NFC is. The Philadelphia Eagles have proven multiple times that they're at the top of the conference.
They have one of the best offenses in the league, averaging 28.1 points per game. A lot of their success is due to Jalen Hurts, who is averaging 242.3 passing yards a game. Don't forget about their defense, though.
The Eagles' defense ranks third in the NFL, allowing just 16.9 points per game. With such a hard-nosed defense, it's not surprising they come in as favorites.
The real question is how well can they cover the spread. This season, they have a 5-3 record against the spread but failed to cover last week. So, are they the best option at home over the Washington Commanders?
Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles Betting Pick
The Philadelphia Eagles are a strong team and have a pretty great record against the spread. Last week, however, they were unable to cover a 14-point spread against the Houston Texans.
In their last three games against the Commanders, they have a 1-1-1 record against the spread. Because of this, we'll actually take the Commanders at +10.5 over the Eagles.
To be fair, we do think the Eagles will win this game but only by a touchdown. The Eagles are missing Avonte Maddox and Josh Jobe, two defensive backs. Because of this, their defense might be compromised tonight.
Look for the Commanders to cover the spread with the total going over.
