USFL Weekly Preview

Week 4 of the USFL season is set to take place this weekend, as there are two games on Saturday and Sunday. It’s been a terrific start to the USFL season, and this league is starting to gain some momentum and popularity. 

There is one huge game set to take place on Sunday, but every team can still find a way to go on a run this season. Here is a look at each of the four games, as well as a Dunkel pick and prediction for each matchup.

Houston Gamblers at Philadelphia Stars

A pair of 1-2 teams are set to meet up on Saturday when the Philadelphia Stars host the Houston Gamblers. Both of these teams might have similar records, but that is about where the comparisons stop. 

Houston wants to play extremely fast, but that hasn’t been a good thing for the defense. The Gamblers have scored 74 points through three games, but they have also allowed 93 on the other side of the ball. 

Philadelphia struggles to score at times this season, but they have been a much better defensive team than Houston. The Stars are slim 2.5-point betting favorites in this matchup, but betting on them to win in a big way is the best way to go.

Memphis Showboats at Michigan Panthers

The Memphis Showboats look for their first win of the year as they travel to Michigan to play the 2-1 Panthers in Week 4. Michigan comes into this game as a 6.5-point betting favorite, and it’s hard to see them having much trouble in this game. 

Memphis is allowing 33 points per game this season, and that could be a problem against a Panthers team that is extremely talented. The Showboats are a team that has found some rhythm on offense at times, but they won’t have enough to keep this game close. 

Taking Michigan -6.5 is the best way to bet in this matchup.

New Orleans Breakers at New Jersey Generals

The New Orleans Breakers will look to remain unbeaten when they travel to New Jersey to take on the Generals on Sunday. New Orleans is a 2.5-point road favorite in this matchup, but they have had little trouble all season long. 

No one has been able to slow down the Breakers this season, as they have scored 105 points through the first three games. New Jersey has allowed just 43 points through three games, but that defense will be tested in this matchup. 

Don’t expect the Breakers to have trouble in this game either, as they will win this game by double-digits to easily cover the spread.

Birmingham Stallions at Pittsburgh Maulers

The Birmingham Stallions are seven-point betting favorites over the Pittsburgh Maulers in the final game of the weekend. Birmingham comes into this game with a 2-1 record through three games, while Pittsburgh has just one win on the year. 

The Stallions have scored 100 points so far this season, while the Maulers are sitting at just 39 total points. That might tell the whole story in this matchup, as Pittsburgh just doesn’t have an offense capable of keeping up.

Take the Birmingham Stallions -7.0, as they will roll to a big win in this one.
