USFL Week 9 Betting Preview

We have reached the penultimate week of the 2023 USFL season, as every team in the league has just two games left. The standings and playoff races have continued to tighten up of late, and there are some games this week with pretty big implications. 

Just like with the other weeks, there will be two games taking place on both Saturday and Sunday. Here is a look at all four of the Week 9 matchups, and a Dunkel pick and prediction is included as well. 

Michigan Panthers at Pittsburgh Maulers

The Michigan Panthers visit the Pittsburgh Maulers to begin Week 9, and both teams are still alive in the crazy North Division. The Pittsburgh Maulers picked up a 23-7 win in the first meeting of the season, but it is Michigan that is a two-point favorite. 

Michigan is having a slightly better season than Pittsburgh, but the Panthers continue to be an absolute mess on defense. The Maulers should be able to find some success on offense in this game, and taking them to win this game outright is going to be the way to go. 

New Orleans Breakers at Memphis Showboats

The South Division has been extremely competitive this season, and a pair of 5-3 teams will meet when the Memphis Showboats host the New Orleans Breakers. Memphis went on the road and beat New Orleans earlier this season, but it was a game that was extremely tight throughout. 

The overall stats for both teams are pretty similar, but New Orleans has proven to be a better offensive team. That offense is going to matter in this game as they pick up a much-needed win. 

The line for this game is set as a Pickem, and the team to bet on is the New Orleans Breakers, as they win by three on the road. 

Birmingham Stallions at Houston Gamblers

The 6-2 Birmingham Stallions visit the 5-3 Houston Gamblers in a very important game in the South Division. Birmingham is a 3.5-point betting favorite on the road in this game, despite losing to Houston at home earlier this year. 

The Stallions have put up some ridiculous offensive numbers this season, but those have been inflated as they have picked on some bad teams. Birmingham isn’t going to have that same luxury in this game, as the Gamblers are a solid team. 

Bet on the Houston Gamblers moneyline as they protect their home turf and come away with a win in this game. 

Philadelphia Stars at New Jersey Generals

The final game of the weekend takes place in New Jersey as the 2-6 Generals host the 4-4 Philadelphia Stars. Not only does New Jersey need a win to stay in the playoff race, but other teams in the North are hoping that the Stars get beat. 

The first meeting between the two teams was a three-point win by Philadelphia, and they are slim 2.5-point favorites in this one. Philadelphia is having a slightly better season, but New Jersey is going to be fired up for this game. 

Take the Generals on the moneyline as they pick up a huge win on Sunday.
