USFL Week 2 Betting Picks
21 April 2022

After an exciting Week 1, we return with another slate of USFL picks. Below are the best bets for USFL Week 2!
Michigan Panthers vs. New Jersey Generals
The Panthers have been able to control the time of possession as they had the ball for 36:49 throughout the first game against the Houston Gamblers. They got off to a slow start but outscored Houston 12-0 in the second half.
The Generals have been one of the best offensive teams through the first week as quarterback Luis Perez was able to do extremely well. He was 13-of-18 for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
New Jersey has a strong running ability as they ran the ball 44 times for 222 yards (5.0 yards per carry) with a rushing touchdown as well. This Michigan defense can slow down the New Jersey offense and kill their offensive firepower so go with the Michigan Panthers to cover the spread and the over to hit, as both teams can easily score 20 points each.
Dunkel Ratings: Michigan 106.531; New Jersey 103.833
Dunkel Line & Total: Michigan by 2 ½; 46
Vegas Line & Total: New Jersey by 1; 41
Dunkel Pick: Michigan (+1); Over
Pittsburgh Maulers vs. Philadelphia Stars
The Pittsburgh offense struggled in the opening game of the season as they were only able to score three points on just 186 total yards. A big issue was the fact they were 0-for-3 in the red zone but were able to hold the Bandits to 17 points.
The Stars have quarterback Bryan Scott, and he had a good game as he threw for 202 yards with an 81 QBR in the opening game against New Orleans. The offense was good and should be able to carry that over against a struggling offense to cover the spread.
Dunkel Ratings: Pittsburgh 99.082; Philadelphia 108.464
Dunkel Line & Total: Philadelphia by 9 ½; 33
Vegas Line & Total: Philadelphia by 6 ½; 36 ½
Dunkel Pick: Philadelphia (-6 ½); Under
Birmingham Stallions vs. Houston Gamblers
Birmingham led the USFL by scoring 28 points, but I do not expect four touchdowns to be scored by this offense again as quarterback J’Mar Smith had an excellent statistical game despite completing only 52.4 percent of his passes.
The Gamblers failed to score any points during the second half of the game as their offense was thwarted. They only had 181 total yards of offense, so they will be fighting to get first downs and find the end zone.
After just 44 offensive snaps for Houston, it will be interesting to see how they change it up, but Birmingham should control the game and cover the spread.
Dunkel Ratings: Birmingham 111.167; Houston 104.143
Dunkel Line & Total: Birmingham by 7; 37
Vegas Line & Total: Birmingham by 3 ½; 41
Dunkel Pick: Birmingham (-3 ½); Under
New Orleans Breakers vs. Tampa Bay Bandits
Defensive end Davin Bellamy was a force last week as he recorded three sacks as the team recorded six sacks and nine tackles for loss.
The Bandits have a solid quarterback in Jordan Ta’Amu, as he finished last week going 20-of-32 with 185 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. He needs to cut down on the turnovers as that will hurt them against a tougher opponent.
However, expect a bounce-back game from Ta’Amu and the Bandits to double-team Bellamy, so the Bandits should cover and score a solid amount of points for the over to hit.
Dunkel Ratings: New Orleans 107.136; Tampa Bay 112.818
Dunkel Line & Total: Tampa Bay by 5 ½; 43
Vegas Line & Total: Tampa Bay by 2 ½; 41
Dunkel Pick: Tampa Bay (-2 ½); Over
