UConn Huskies at Florida Gators Betting Preview

The 2022-23 men’s college basketball season continues to roll right along, and there are a ton of big games every single night. On Wednesday, it will be the Florida Gators hosting the UConn Huskies in a battle of two NCAA Tournament level teams.
UConn comes into this game with a perfect 9-0 record, and they have been one of the most impressive teams in the country to begin the season. The Huskies have played four straight teams from Power 5 Conferences, and they have been blowing them out along the way.
Florida comes into this game with an overall record of 6-3, and it’s been an interesting start to the season for them. The Gators have played extremely well at times, but they continue to try and find some more consistency.
The UConn Huskies are 4.5-point betting favorites on the road against the Florida Gators on Wednesday night.
UConn Has Some Size
It is usually guard play that tends to dictate the action when it comes to college basketball, but UConn is a program that is getting things done in a different way. The Huskies are coming into this game scoring 83 points per game, and they do a ton of damage in the paint.
Adama Sanogo leads the team with 18.7 points per game, and he also pulls down seven boards per game. UConn has a team that has plenty of balanced scoring after their star as well, with at least five other players scoring nine points per game.
The Huskies have been extremely impressive on defense to begin the season, as they are allowing just 59 points per game. Things will start to get harder for UConn, but they just continue to be great up to this point.
Florida Okay With Playing Fast
The Florida Gators come into Wednesday night scoring 81 points per game, but they are also allowing 69 points per game. Florida wants to speed up the tempo in this matchup and try to find a way to limit the play of Sanogo.
Forward Colin Castleton will also be a big key in this one, as he is scoring 16.6 points per game this season. Florida doesn’t have as much scoring depth as the Huskies, but they have four guards scoring close to or more than 10 points per game.
The defense for the Gators will have to improve in this one, especially around the rim.
Gators Get the Job Done
There aren’t many teams in the country that can be as explosive as UConn, but you can include Florida in the group that has that ability. The Gators are going to try to speed up the tempo in this matchup, and it should lead to an up-and-down style of basketball on Wednesday night.
UConn has been extremely impressive to begin the year, but they are still missing an impressive true road win on their resume. The Huskies aren’t going to overwhelm the Gators with their size, and making difficult shots on the road won’t come easy.
