Toyota Save Mart 350 2022 Betting Preview/Prop Pick

09 June 2022

The next NASCAR Cup Series event takes place in Sonoma County, California, at the Sonoma Raceway. Many betting favorites continue to do work on the track, with some surprise drivers getting hit at the right time.

This marks the 16th race of the season, and bettors have a good idea as to who can handle the Next Gen cars and who cannot. Below you can see which drivers make a strong case.

Race Details

Date: Sun, Jun 12, 4:00 PM
Watch on: FS1
Track: Sonoma Raceway

Betting Overview

After 16 races, many drivers have either figured out their car or not. There should not be any more excuses coming from drivers that are still trying to work things out.

This track is barely two miles long, and it is similar to other events drivers have experienced so far this year. However, betting favorites are the usual ones that have successfully won here.

Head to Head Matchup to Watch

Kyle Larson (180.050) and Kyle Busch (188.265) are dominant favorites to win this event. Larson is the defending champion and won last year by a mile, it seems.

Kyle Busch has won here twice in his career and has great momentum coming into this one. Between the two, Larson seems more appealing.

Drivers That Could Win

Kyle Busch (188.265) might be the best driver to win this race but will obviously have to prove himself. He is coming off of a second-place overtime finish at the Enjoy Illinois 300.

Busch has won here twice and has five top-five finishes over his last six starts here. He has also recorded eight top 10 finishes in his last nine races, which include a few top three and runner-ups.

For the money, it would not hurt to add Christopher Bell (187.846) as a potential winning pick. He has driven well here in the past and has done well on other road courses.

Bell has eight top 10 finishes so far this year. In addition, he was a runner-up at the Road America road course and won the Daytona road course.

Potential Winning Pick

Kyle Larson (180.050) has a great opportunity to work his way back into the Cup Series top five if he can gain some momentum with a victory here. Looking back at last year, he dominated this race, and it was not even close.

Currently sitting at seventh place in Cup Series points, Larson has a great shot to move up. This is where he needs to deliver a victory.

Prop Pick

Head-To-Head Matchup: Ross Chastain (-125) OVER Denny Hamlin

After a pair of rough weeks, Chastain slipped back into the Top 10 last week with an 8th place finish at WWT Raceway. On the season, the No. 1 car ranks No. 4 in Average Driver Rating (94.6) and No. 3 in Laps Led (426).

Hamlin had his day cut short last week after he was knocked into the wall on Lap 64 by – you guessed it – Chastain. It was a disappointing finish after taking the checkered flag the previous week at Charlotte. The No. 11 car comes into this week ranked No. 12 in Average Driver Rating (79.4) and No. 10 in Laps Led (173).

With Chastain rated No. 2 in this week’s Dunkel Index and Hamlin No. 3, this is setting up for an intense battle on Sunday, but take the more consistent Chastain (-125) to have the edge over Hamlin at Sonoma.
