The Genesis Invitational 2023 Betting Preview
15 February 2023

The 2023 Genesis Invitational is set to take place this weekend, and this is always an event that attracts plenty of attention. Riviera Country Club is the host golf course for this event in California, and it has a loaded field yet again.
The 2023 PGA Tour schedule is really just now getting going, and players are trying to get their work in at the best courses in the country. Not only will this event have a loaded field of top performers, but one of the biggest names in the sport is also set to make a return.
Solid Group of Favorites
Since most of the top golfers in the sport are expected to tee it up this week at the Genesis Invitational, it’s going to be hard to predict a winner. The betting odds for this event are out, and they are loaded with big names.
There have already been a few players that have established themselves as the best players on tour this season, and they will be teeing it up. Here is a look at where the betting odds stand for the group of favorites.
- Jon Rahm +750
- Rory McIlroy +900
- Scottie Scheffler +1000
- Justin Thomas +1600
- Tony Finau +1600
- Xander Schauffele +1600
- Collin Morikawa +2000
- Max Homa +2000
Sleepers Can Make a Move
Looking at the top golfers in the field is a great start, but taking a look even further down the odds list is a good idea as well. You can call the following group of golfers sleepers, but there are some big names that could make a move as well.
- Patrick Cantlay (+2500)
- Sungjae Im (+2500)
- Sam Burns (+2800)
- Viktor Hovland (+2800)
- Cameron Young (+3300)
- Hideki Matsuyama (+4000)
- Jason Day (+4000)
- Jordan Spieth (+4000)
- Matt Fitzpatrick (+4000)
- Tom Kim (+4000)
- Tyrrell Hatton (+4000)
- Will Zalatoris (+4000)
- Tiger Woods (+12000)
We simply had to include Tiger Woods on this list of sleepers, as he is going to be a big story when he tees it up this weekend. It still seems extremely unlikely for Woods to make a run this weekend at the Genesis Invitational, but all eyes will be on him early in this event.
There are plenty of other big names in this group as well, and all of them will provide a big win if you bet on them. There are plenty of former major champions in this group,

Thomas Takes the Title
With so many big golfers set to hit the course this weekend, picking a winner won’t be easy. You are going to find more value when betting on one of the sleepers that are out there, but you should stick to the group of favorites for this event.
It’s never easy to bet against Jon Rahm or Rory McIlroy, but neither of those golfers is going to win the Genesis Invitational. Instead, you should be looking at Justin Thomas at +1600, as he is going to have a great weekend on the course.
Anything can happen when it comes to golf, but betting on Justin Thomas to outduel some of the other top golfers is the play.
