Dunkel Pick: Oklahoma State (+4); Over
It's been another wild season in the Big 12 Conference football race, and there is still plenty of drama to unfold. The Oklahoma State Cowboys host the Texas Longhorns, and this is a very important game for each program.
Texas is coming into this game with a ton of momentum, as they have rattled off three straight wins. The Longhorns are 5-2 overall on the year, and they can still win the Big 12 Conference with some help.
Oklahoma State is 5-1 on the year, and they are trying to avoid their second straight loss of the season. The Cowboys suffered a 43-40 overtime loss at TCU last weekend, but they remain in the Top 15 heading into this one.
The Texas Longhorns are slim four-point favorites on the road over the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Longhorns Loaded With Talent
Now that Quinn Ewers is back with the Longhorns, this team is one of the most talented offensive teams in the conference. Ewers has battled injuries this season, but he threw three touchdown passes in last week's win over Iowa State.
Running back Bijan Robinson is also having a huge year for the Longhorns, as he has rushed for 180 yards and ten touchdowns this season. Texas is capable of scoring a touchdown on every single play, and that makes them dangerous.
The Texas defense is holding opponents to just 18 points per game, and that unit will need to show up in this one. Texas doesn't want to get into a shootout with Oklahoma State, especially on the road.
Cowboys Have to Get Stops
If Oklahoma State is going to win this game and contend for the conference title, then they have to start getting stops. Oklahoma State is allowing 27.8 points per game this season, and they give up way too many huge plays.
The Cowboys have been able to continue winning games with that offense, as they are putting up 45 points per game. Oklahoma State can't always rely on that offense, though, especially against a good team like Texas.
Quarterback Spencer Sanders has thrown for 1,639 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, and he will look to lead his team again in this one.
OK State Survives Texas
This should be another high-scoring game in the Big 12 Conference, just as most of them typically are. Both teams are led by terrific starting quarterbacks, but it is Texas that has the better overall defense.
The Longhorns are coming into this game with a ton of momentum, and it's going to be hard for Oklahoma State to slow them down. The Cowboys are good enough to keep this game extremely close, and the home fileld should make them good enough to pull off the upse as well.
While Ewers should deliver for Texas, the best bet is to take the four points and bet on Oklahoma State.
Prop Picks
Texas (-120) OVER 33.5 Points
Texas is averaging 36.7 points per game on offense this season, which ranks No. 20 in the FBS. That average increases to 41.5 points per game on the road. Scores have gone OVER in eight of the Longhorns’ last nine road games versus the Cowboys.
With Dunkel predicting an Oklahoma State win by the score of 37-35, take the Longhorns (-120) to finish OVER their Vegas point total of 33.5 points against the Cowboys.
