Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox Betting Preview/Player Prop

11 October 2021

Game 4 of the ALDS between the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox is set for Monday night at historic Fenway Park. The Boston Red Sox currently hold a 2-1 series lead and are looking to eliminate the AL East Division champs.

Tampa Bay took control of the series in Game 1, coming away with a 5-0 victory. The Rays have struggled since that game and suffered a heartbreaking loss in extra innings on Sunday.

Boston was a great team at home all season long, and the Red Sox used that home-field advantage to take a series lead. The Red Sox are now hoping to win a third straight game and end this series on Monday night.

The Tampa Bay Rays are betting favorites at -113 on the money line for Game 4 of this ALDS series.

Rays Must Get Some Outs

Tampa Bay has given up a total of 20 runs in the last two games, and that pitching staff is completely worn out heading into Game 4. The Rays don’t have a starting pitcher lined up for Monday night, and they will likely try to get through this game with a number of pitchers.

Tampa Bay is averaging five runs per game so far in this series, but that might not be enough on Monday night. The Rays have struggled to hit for power in this series, and they will need to hit some long balls to keep their season alive.

Randy Arozarena was the postseason star for the Tampa Bay Rays a season ago, and he led the team with a .274 batting average during the regular season. Arozarena needs to get going if Tampa Bay is going to win on Monday night.

Big Bats Leading Boston

Enrique Hernandez and Kyle Schwarber have both hit two home runs for the Red Sox in the postseason, and each player homered in the Game 3 win. Boston has been pounding the baseball against Tampa Bay, and that offense could deliver a series-clinching win on Monday.

Boston will send Eduardo Rodriguez back to the mound on Monday night, and they are hoping to get a better start out of him. Rodriguez was hit hard in Game 1 of this series, and the Red Sox need a much better outing on Monday night.

The Red Sox are not a team that wins games with its pitching staff, but that offense can take control of another game.

Rays Rally Against Red Sox

Tampa Bay is going to use their entire arsenal of pitchers on Monday night as they are desperate to keep this series going. The Rays are going to frustrate the Boston batters with this strategy, and they won’t give up many runs.

Boston is a streaky team on offense, and they can really struggle to score runs at times. The Red Sox have been riding a wave of momentum in the last two games, but the Rays and their pitching staff will shut that down on Monday night.

Bet the Tampa Bay Rays -113 as they find a way to win this game on Monday night to keep their season alive.

Player Prop

Brandon Lowe (-215) Over 0.5 Hits

If the Rays are going to stay alive in the ALDS, they are going to need Lowe to turn it around.

Simply put, the Tampa Bay second baseman has been awful at the plate so far this postseason. In the three games against the Red Sox, he is a combined 0-for-14 with 6 Ks. That included an 0-for-6 performance and 3 Ks in yesterday’s 6-4 loss in extra innings.

But those numbers were certainly not reflective of Lowe’s production down the stretch of the regular season. He hit .301 with 5 HRs in September and then welcomed October with a 3 HR game against the Yankees. On the season, Lowe hit a modest .247, but his 39 HRs were tied for 6th in the league.

And his numbers against Boston in the regular season were among his best with a .291 batting average and 5 HRs in 55 at-bats.

We’ll take Lowe (-215) today to snap out of his slump and pick up at least one hit against the Red Sox.
