Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview/Player Prop

14 October 2021

Week 6 of the NFL season kicks off on Thursday night with a matchup of recent Super Bowl winners from the NFC. The Philadelphia Eagles host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and this should be a great game to kick off another exciting weekend of football.

Tampa Bay comes into this game with a record of 4-1, and the Buccaneers look like a team capable of winning a second straight Super Bowl. The Buccaneers suffered a 34-24 loss back in Week three, but they have been able to bounce back with two straight wins.

Philadelphia has gone just 2-3 so far this season, and both of those wins came on each end of a three-game losing streak. The Eagles went into Carolina and beat the Panthers in Week 5, and that victory should give them some momentum in this game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are seven-point favorites over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football.

Brady Continues to Dominate

Tom Brady is one of the best players in NFL history, and he seems to continue to get better with age. Brady might be on pace to have one of his best years of his career as he has thrown for 1,767 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Running the football continues to be a challenge at times for the Buccaneers, and that is something that will need to improve as the season moves along. Leonard Fournette has racked up 251 yards on the ground, but the Bucs need to give him more touches.

The defensive front for Tampa Bay continues to play well, but this team is giving up some yards. The Buccaneers are allowing over 24 points per game, but they will be coming after a rookie quarterback in this one.

Hurts Doing Heroic Things For Philly

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has thrown for over 1,300 yards this season while also racking up over 250 yards on the ground. Hurts has been forced to do nearly everything for this team, and he has continued to deliver.

The Eagles have racked up nearly 400 yards of total offense per game, but they are going to need to run the football more effectively moving forward. Tampa Bay is not going to let Hurts sit back and throw from the pocket, and Philadelphia needs to run the ball to give the defense a chance to rest.

Bucs Barely Beat Eagles

The crowd and energy in Philadelphia should be electric on Thursday night, and that is going to allow the Eagles to keep this game close. Philadelphia is going to give up plenty of points to the Bucs, but Jalen Hurts is also going to make some impressive plays.

This should be a high-scoring affair, and that is ultimately going to give Tampa Bay an advantage in this one. Don’t expect either team to get much separation at all on Thursday night, but it will ultimately be the Buccaneers that pick up a win.

Take the seven points and bet on the Philadelphia Eagles as the home team battles the defending champions in a loss.

Player Prop

Jalen Hurts (-154) Over 1.5 TD Passes

Hurts wasn’t even 2-years-old when Tom Brady was taken in the 6th round of the 2000 NFL draft. And it’s going to be hard to measure up to the 44-year-old legend, especially coming off a 400+ yard and 5 TD game last week.

But the Eagle QB has been putting up decent numbers of his own through the first five weeks of the season. He started off brilliantly with a 3 TD performance against the Falcons in Week 1 and followed that up with 2 TDs and 387 yards passing against Kansas City in Week 4.

Last week was a little rougher against Carolina as Hurts threw for just 198 yards and 1 INT, while his rating (62.7) was the lowest of the season. But that was understandable against a Panthers defense that is ranked No. 1 against the pass.

He won’t be facing that tonight in the Tampa Bay defense, which has given up the most yards passing (314.4 ypg) this season and the third-most TD tosses (13).

Against a more forgiving Tampa Bay defense, we’ll take Hurts (-154) to put on a little show of his own tonight and go over 1.5 TD passes.
