Stanley Cup Finals Game 1 Betting Preview

03 June 2023 By Cole Paganelli

Game 1 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals is set to take place on Saturday night, and this should be a terrific matchup. The Vegas Golden Knights host the Florida Panthers in the final series of the NHL season, and getting off to a good start will be the goal of both teams.

Florida entered the postseason as the last seed in the Eastern Conference, but they haven’t played like that throughout the run. The Panthers have pulled off three straight upsets, including a sweep of the Carolina Panthers last round.

Vegas hasn’t been quite as dominant as Florida throughout the playoffs, but they have been able to win games when needed. The Golden Knights are now back in the NHL Stanley Cup Finals for the second time in franchise history.

The Vegas Golden Knights are the moneyline betting favorites at -133 over the Florida Panthers in the series opener.

Tkachuk Pacing Panthers on Offense

The Florida Panthers have been a terrific offensive team throughout their playoff run, and it’s been Matthew Tkachuk that is leading the way. Tkachuk has nine goals and 21 total points so far in the postseason, and he has been coming up with clutch goals as well.

Florida has been terrific on special teams throughout the playoffs as well, and that’s something that should help them play well in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Panthers are a team that thrives on momentum, but they will be entering a raucous environment on Saturday night.

Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky comes into this game with an 11-2 record so far in the postseason, and he is giving up just over two goals per game. Bobrovsky can steal a game or two in this series for the Panthers.

Golden Knights Can Shut Teams Down

The Vegas Golden Knights are a team that is loaded on the offensive side of the ice, but they can also completely shut a team down. Vegas is giving up just 2.65 goals per game so far in the playoffs, and they have faced some great offensive teams.

Vegas is going to be trying to take control of this game on both ends of the ice, and they have the special teams to get that done. The penalty kill for Vegas completely takes control of games, and that should slow down the Panthers.

Jack Eichel has been the best offensive player for the Golden Knights during this playoff run, as he has tallied 18 total points. Vegas has been able to get big production from up and down the lineup, and that is going to be key in this series.

Golden Knights Cruise to Win

The Florida Panthers are coming into this series with a ton of momentum, but that is only going to take them so far. Florida has been able to score goals with the best of them in the postseason, but it’s going to take more than that to win in this series.

Vegas knows that they can’t afford to lose Game 1 if they are going to win this series, and they will be focused to play well on both ends of the ice. The Golden Knights will not only have a big night on offense, but they will also shut down the Panthers on that end of the ice.

Bet the Vegas Golden Knights -2.5 as they are going to cruise to a win by three goals on Saturday night to begin the Stanley Cup Finals.
