St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview

28 September 2022

The St. Louis Cardinals come into tonight’s game with a record of 90-65. Ranking first in the NL Central, they’ll face a fellow division member in the Milwaukee Brewers.

Yesterday, the Cardinals were able to earn a 6-2 win over the Brewers. Today, however, the Brewers are starting one of their best pitchers. St. Louis will need to pull out all the stops to get a win here.

The Milwaukee Brewers rank second in the NL Central with an 82-72 record. The big problem is they’ve lost their last two games, but there is some good news as well.

They have a sizable lead on the third-place team, so their spot isn’t in jeopardy. With the season-ending soon, however, they need all the wins they can get. So, who’s the better bet between these two teams?

St. Louis Cardinals: Cardinals batters need to start fast tonight

The Cardinals are the favorites to win this game, which shouldn’t be much of a shock. However, they’ll need to get a fast start against the Brewers if they hope to win this game.

Yesterday’s 6-2 win is in the past, and they’re facing a tough pitcher tonight. Jose Quintana is on the mound for them, so they’ll have a little backup. Still, they’ll rely heavily on their batters this evening.

Quintana has a record of 6-6 with a 3.03 ERA this season. Over the course of 157.2 innings, he’s thrown 130 strikeouts and has allowed 149 hits.

Perhaps the most impressive stat from Quintana is in this time; he’s allowed just eight home runs. At the plate, the Cardinals have an impressive batting average of .253, ranking 10th in the league.

Milwaukee Brewers: Brewers will send out Brandon Woodruff

After losing their last two games, the Brewers really need to secure a win tonight. To do this, they’ll rely heavily on Starting Pitcher Brandon Woodruff, who has a 12-4 record.

Along with his impressive record is an ERA of 3.18 this season and 173 strikeouts. Over 141.1 innings, Woodruff has allowed 114 hits with 17 home runs. He’s their best chance at a win tonight.

At the plate, the Brewers have slightly cooled off from how they were earlier in the season. They have a .235 batting average, ranking 22nd in the league.

Their leading batter is Christian Yelich, who has a .253 batting average this season. Rowdy Tellez still leads the team in home runs at 34, so they have some power at the plate. They’ll need all of it to get a win over the Cardinals.

St. Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee Brewers Betting Pick

Many might avoid taking the Brewers tonight because they’ve lost their last two games. However, the Brewers have a 42-31 record at home this season.

You should keep in mind that the Brewers have done well against the Cardinals in the past as well. With Woodruff on the mound, they have a much better chance of winning this game.

They also come in as +101 underdogs, giving you the chance to earn more winnings. They might’ve lost yesterday’s game, but we’re taking Woodruff and the Brewers tonight.
