It's common for Tom Izzo's Michigan State teams to take their lumps in November and December in preparation for the rigors of the Big Ten schedule. This year was a little more extreme as the Spartans loaded up with the likes of Kentucky and Duke, and suffered five early losses overall. But the method may be paying off as Michigan State has won three of its first four in conference play. Izzo's squad will get a strong test tonight as they host the 15-2 Minnesota Golden Gophers.
