Southern 500 Betting Preview
01 September 2020

The CookOut Southern 500 will take place this weekend from the Darlington Raceway in South Carolina. This is a 501 mile race, and will consist of 367 laps. This race was run on Labor Day weekend for 53 years, and then after a 12 year break, came back in 2015. This race features the best racers in the world, and the track is known as the oldest superspeedway race. Let’s take a look at the Southern 500 Betting Preview for the 2020 event:
Kevin Harvick +325
After a tough weekend last weekend, expect Harvick to bounce back. He started 1st, and finished 20th. That’s not very good for the hottest racer on the planet. Harvick has won 7 events and been in the Top 10 - 17 times. The last win that Harvick came back with was the race in Dover. He has been there, and done that with this track.
Denny Hamlin +350
The member of the Joe Gibbs Racing group is ready to rock and roll in Darlington. Hamlin finished 3rd last week, which was the 4th Top 5 finish in the last 5 races. Hamlin has come away with 6 wins this season, and 15 times has been in the Top 10. Hamlin ranks second in the current cup standings.
Brad Keselowski +900
The #2 Discount Tire car will certainly be in the thick of things throughout the race in Darlington. The 36 year old is seeking his fourth win of the season, and his 10th Top 5 finish. Last weekend, Brad finished 10th after starting 4th. Keselowski has struggled as of late, as he has just two Top 10 finishes in his last 5 races.
Kyle Busch +1200
Grab a Snickers! Always a fun car to watch, especially when hungry. Okay, bad joke - but Kyle Busch is still looking for his first win of the season. Darlington is a place that he could fare well at for sure. Busch, despite not winning a title, has 11 Top 5 finishes and 13 Top 10. Busch has missed the Top 10 the last three races he has been in, including 11th last weekend.
Others in Consideration
Joey Logano +1300
The Team Penske #22 car is not one of the Top 5 favorites to win this race. Logano is oftentimes slept on, and continues to be an elite racer. Last weekend, Logano started 3rd and finished 27th. Not a good finish, but look to add fuel to his fire. Logano has 2 wins this season, and finished inside the Top 5, 6 times this season. Logano at +1300 is a pretty good sleeper pick.
Ryan Blaney +2000
Another guy from Team Penske. Blaney will be driving the #12 car. The Ford car started 9th last week, and finished in 6th place. That was his second Top 10 finish in a row, and this season he has 11 of them. He has one win on the season, and seems poised to be able to grab a second. Why not here? Blaney at +2000 is pretty cheap odds, and won worth taking a look at to win this event.
The best of the best are getting together, which means you never know what may happen. We like our betting odds, and hope this helps you in your quest to win some money this weekend. Enjoy the weekend, and enjoy the race!
