Seattle Kraken at Colorado Avalanche Betting Preview
10 January 2022
— Monday, January 10th Seattle Kraken @ Colorado Avalanche
Four out of the seven scheduled NHL games for Monday night have been postponed, but there will still be hockey played in Colorado. The Avalanche are set to host the Seattle Kraken in what needs to be a victory for the home team.
Seattle comes into this game with a record of 10-19-4, and things have not gone very well for this expansion franchise. The Kraken have lost five straight games, and they are just getting back to hockey after a long pause.
Colorado has won four straight games, and they are starting to live up to the lofty preseason expectations. The Avalanche have now picked up 44 points on the year, and they are going to play a big role in the Western Conference Playoffs.
The Colorado Avalanche are the betting favorite at -421 on the moneyline.
Seattle Struggling to Get Stops
If Seattle is going to find a way to get the season turned around, then they have to get some better goaltending. The Kraken are allowing 3.67 goals against per game this season, and that is going to spell serious trouble on Monday night.
Philipp Grubauer has gotten the majority of the starts in net for Seattle, but he is allowing 3.3 goals per game. The Kraken have also killed off just 77 percent of their penalties, and that hasn’t helped the situation.
Center Jared McCann leads the Kraken with 13 goals on the year, and Jaden Schwartz has a team-high 14 assists. Schwartz is currently out of the lineup, though, and that’s going to make things even more difficult for the Kraken.
Avalanche Continue to Roll on Offense
The offensive numbers for the Colorado Avalanche continue to be remarkable, and this team just keeps getting better on that end of the ice. Colorado enters Monday night, scoring 4.32 goals per game, and this could be a huge night of offense for them.
The Avalanche have converted on nearly 25 percent of their power play chances, and Nazem Kadri is leading the way with 32 assists and 44 points. Mikko Rantanen now leads the team with 16 goals, but this team has a number of weapons.
Colorado is still allowing 3.2 goals per game, but they have confidence that they can simply outscore most of their opponents. The Avalanche will still need to clean up the defense eventually, but it shouldn’t affect the outcome.
Colorado Cruises to Victory
There are some NHL games that look like a complete mismatch on paper, and this is definitely one of them. Seattle has not been able to get any stops all season long, and that is going to prove to be a huge issue in this one.
The Avalanche struggled a bit earlier in the year, but that hasn’t been an issue over the last few weeks. Colorado is playing with a ton of momentum, and that is going to continue in this matchup on Monday.
Bet the Colorado Avalanche -3.5 as they cruise to a blowout victory over the struggling Seattle Kraken on Monday night.
