San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers Betting Preview/Prop Pick

The Green Bay Packers host the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night at Lambeau Field for a Divisional Round matchup in the NFC. The winner of this game will advance to the NFC Championship Game to take on the winner of Los Angeles and Tampa Bay.

San Francisco pulled off an upset in the Wild Card Round as they went into Dallas and upset the Cowboys. The 49ers finished the regular season at 10-7 but came into the playoffs with a ton of momentum. 

Green Bay earned the top overall seed in the NFC this season after posting a record of 13-4. The Packers are no strangers to being in that position, but it hasn’t yielded many Super Bowl berths. 

The Green Bay Packers are six-point betting favorites over the San Francisco 49ers. 

49ers Have to Run

If San Francisco is going to win this game, then they are going to have to run the football well. San Francisco rushed the ball better than most teams in the league this season and had 169 rushing yards in the Wild Card Round. 

Eric Mitchell has emerged as a solid running back option in San Francisco, but Deebo Samuel has been terrific as well. Samuel is nearly impossible to stop with the ball in his hands, and he could present a real problem to the Packers. 

The San Francisco defense had five sacks against Dak Prescott and the Cowboys, and getting pressure on Rodgers will be a key once again. San Francisco has a decent secondary, but no unit has been able to slow down the future Hall of Famer. 

Green Bay Defense Must Deliver

The Green Bay Packers are the top seed in the NFC for a reason, but that defense doesn’t always deliver when they are called up. Green Bay is going to have to find ways to stop the run in order to give their offense the football back. 

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for over 4,100 yards this season while also tossing 37 touchdown passes. Davante Adams continues to be the top target in Green Bay as he hauled in 123 catches for more than 1,500 yards. 

The Packers will need to give Rodgers some time to operate, and that offensive line is going to be a huge key. Green Bay wants to win this game on offense, but a little help from the defense would go a long way. 

Packers Punish 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers will use the same strategy that has served them well throughout the season, but that just doesn’t lead to many points. San Francisco does have the ability to play terrific defense, but that’s not going to happen in this matchup.

Aaron Rodgers is playing some of the best football of his career, and he just has so many weapons at his disposal. The passing attack is going to overwhelm the 49ers at some point, and this game will get out of hand in the second half.
