Safeway Open Betting Preview

After a thrilling 2020 season finale in Atlanta, where Dustin Johnson took home the $15 million prize, it's time to get back on the golf course and see how the boys fare. The 2021 season starts with the Safeway Open.

This event will take place at the Silverado Resort and Spa - North Course in Napa Valley, Calif. The players are looking for great weather, and many of the top golfers will sit this one out.

Despite that, we expect a great event. Let's take a look at our Safeway Open Betting Preview:

Si Woo Kim +2200

One of the favorites in this tournament, Kim did not win any event during the 2020 season and saw just one Top 10 finish. That came at the Wyndham, in which he shot a third-round 62, but shot a 70 on the final day to fall out of contention.

Kim did make the cut in his final nine events, dating back to the middle of June. We know Kim can get hot, and this is a course fit for him. He is listed at +2200.

Keegan Bradley +6000

Keegan Bradley did not finish inside the Top 10 one single time in 2020. That's not a real good number for Bradley. But, it's a new season, and Bradley had a few weeks to get the kinks figured out.

Before the break, Bradley saw back-to-back Top 16 finishes. After the break, nothing was better than the 29th-place finish he picked up at the Northern Trust to finish the season.

That outing saw him shoot three straight sub-70 rounds to start the tournament before a final-round 70.

Harold Varner III +3000

Varner finished his 2020 season back at the Northern Trust. He finished in 71st place there, barely missing the cut. It was his third missed cut in the last five events.

In the middle of that, though, a seventh-place finish at the Wyndham Championship was nice. The former East Carolina golfer did not win an event on the season but certainly contended on a few occasions. Varner is listed at +3000 to win the event.

Joel Dahmen +2800

Joel rattled off four straight sub-70 rounds in the fourth major of his career. In the end, he finished 10th at the PGA Championship, and then three weeks later, 20th at the BMW Championship.

Dahmen has been pretty strong with 18/22 cuts and five Top 10 finishes this season. It will be fun to see if he can survive the first two rounds and give himself a chance over the weekend.

Others in Consideration

Cameron Davis +4500

Cameron Davis finished the 2020 season with 12 cuts made in 21 events. Davis finished inside the Top 10 on three occasions on the season. The final four events for Davis were all pretty solid with 12th-, 32nd-, 15th- and 29th-place finishes.

The Australian was really cooking at the final event of the season - with a 64 and 65 in the first two rounds before struggling with a 72 and 73 on the final two days.

Carlos Ortiz +6600

Ortiz did not have a terrible 2020 season. In fact, he finished with three Top 10 finishes on the season and wrapped it up with a 25th-place finish at the BMW Championship.

Ortiz is a guy who can get hot, but there have been some recent struggles in his game, with no Top 20 finishes since the return to play. Ortiz is listed at +6600, so he's certainly a long shot, but the golfer from Mexico knows how to compete.
