The defending champion Kansas City Royals are quickly playing themselves out of contention as a 7-18 stretch now has them six games under .500 (49-55) and 12 games behind the Indians in the AL Central. About the only bright spot for KC has been the pitching of Danny Duffy, who has led the Royals to wins in each of his last five starts. Manager Ned Yost will hope for another strong outing from Duffy tonight as the Royals open a series against Chris Archer (5-14, 4.42) and the Tampa Bay Rays.
