RBC Canadian Open 2023 Betting Preview

07 June 2023 By Ryan Knuppel

The PGA Tour makes a stop in Toronto this weekend for the annual RBC Canadian Open at the Oakdale Country Club. This event was first founded all the way back in 1904, and it has become one of the most popular stops on the tour for golfers.

There was some big golf news that was announced on Tuesday, but all of the focus this weekend will be on the action that takes place on the course. Several of the top golfers in the world are going to tee it up this weekend at Oakdale, and it should be a terrific battle.

Here is a look at some of the odds to win the RBC Canadian Open, and a Dunkel pick and prediction is included as well.

Favorites to Win RBC Canadian Open

This isn’t a stop on the PGA Tour that is going to attract all of the best golfers in the world, but several of the top 50 players will be teeing it up. You will recognize some names when looking at the betting odds, especially when it comes to the betting favorites.

  • Rory McIlroy +550
  • Tyrrell Hatton +1100
  • Cameron Young +1400
  • Matt Fitzpatrick +1400
  • Sam Burns +1400

Rory McIlroy is the clear favorite to win this weekend at Toronto, but that doesn’t always mean that he will be able to get it done. There are plenty of other solid golfers right behind him, and several of these players have already had success at Oakdale Country Club.

If you are following along with the tournament this weekend then you won’t be surprised if most of these names are at or near the top of the leaderboard at the end of each round. This is a challenging course, and it requires incredible skill to score well.

Plenty of Top Contenders

Looking at the list of betting favorites is always a great place to start, but there is much more to betting on a golf tournament. Since so many golfers want to make the trip up to Toronto for the RBC Canadian Open, there tends to be quite the battle during the final round on Sunday.

Here is a look at some of the golfers that are expected to contend this week:

  • Justin Rose +1600
  • Corey Conners +1800
  • Shane Lowry +2000
  • Tommy Fleetwood +2000
  • Sahith Theegala +2500
  • Keith Mitchell +3500

You will notice that there is a pretty large gap between McIlroy at +550 and Keith Mitchell at +3500, but that’s typically how golf odds work. If you are looking for value and a chance to cash in then you will want to explore the group of contenders this weekend.

Burns Beats the Other Golfers

While McIlroy is clearly the favorite to get it done this weekend in Toronto, there are also some reasons to fade him as well. McIlroy appears to be wearing down a bit as the season moves along, and that will give another golfer in the group of favorites a chance to cash in.

Look for Sam Burns to have a great weekend of golf at the RBC Canadian Open as he looks poised to win an event. If you are going to bet on golf this weekend, then taking Burns at +1400 is the way to go.
