The RBC Canadian Open is back in action after a two-year hiatus during the pandemic. The last time anyone won, it was Rory Mcllroy, so he will be the defending champion.

Even though the RBC Canadian Open is back on the PGA Tour Calendar, it is not being held at the same location that it was a few years back. Instead, it will be at St. George's Golf Course, which has not hosted this event since 2010.
Many golfers playing today have not participated or played there. With that being said, this event could hold many surprises.
This course is a Par 70 and is barely over 7,000 yards. Golfers that have a strong iron play and can approach the green might bode well against the shorter course.

Golfers That Could Win
Tony Finau (-36.743) has put up two top-five finishes out of his last four starts. He will need to continue his performance if he wants a shot to win against a handful of better players.
Sebastian Munoz (-39.755) can quietly play himself into a victory if he remains positive. Looking at last month, he opened with a 60 in the AT&T Byron Nelson and gave fans something to look at. If he remains consistent, he could have a great opportunity.
Scottie Scheffler (-36.501) almost landed another victory on the year but came up short in his playoff against Burns in the Charles Schwab Challenge. Every time he steps foot in an event, all eyes will be on him. He is arguably the best option here, but other players might have a good opportunity to win.

Cameron Smith (-33.314) has yet to win a major, but he is a victory away from being a dominant player among the current greats. He is currently the best player rakes for strokes gained in this field and could be the difference between winning and losing.

Smith struggled during the weekend at the Memorial and fell from 1st to a tie for 13th. But it doesn’t overshadow a season that has included victories at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and PLAYERS Championship. Smith is ranked No. 1 in birdie average (5.05) and No. 1 in scoring average (69.253).
McIlroy similarly fell from contention to a tie for 18th at the Memorial with a 73 and 74 in the final two rounds. He is ranked No. 26 in birdie average (4.06) and No. 2 in scoring average (69.298).
With Smith rated No. 2 in this week’s Dunkel Index and McIlroy at No. 4, these are two of the hottest golfers on Tour right now, but take Smith at plus money (+105) to have the edge in this matchup.
Tournament Matchup: Justin Thomas (-110) OVER Scottie Scheffler
Thomas couldn’t avoid the letdown after winning the PGA Championship as he missed the cut at the Charles Schwab Challenge. But it’s a small blip on a season that has included 8 Top 10 finishes in 14 events. Thomas is ranked No. 2 in birdie average (4.96) and No. 3 in scoring average (69.450).
Scheffler also slipped a bit following his Masters title, finishing outside the Top 10 in three straight events, including a missed cut at the PGA Championship. He showed signs of rebounding in his last event with a 2nd place finish at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Scheffler is ranked No. 3 in birdie average (4.82) and No. 5 in scoring average (69.537).
With Thomas rated No. 5 in this week’s Dunkel Index and Scheffler at No. 6, these two should both be in the thick of it on Sunday, but take the reigning PGA champ (-110) to get the better of the reigning Masters champ.
