Purdue Boilermakers at Iowa Hawkeyes Betting Preview/Prop Pick

The No.6 Purdue Boilermakers set out to face the unranked Iowa Hawkeyes on Thursday night. Purdue, fresh off of a win over Northwestern, will try to get another win streak going. Taking on Iowa might be a little tougher than some may think.

Purdue has two players that are out for the season, one of which is a redshirt freshman. Even with the injuries, Purdue is the favorite here.

The Iowa Hawkeyes come in as 2.5-point underdogs, which aren't bad odds. They're 14-5 on the season and ninth in the Big Ten. Purdue has been rolling over teams lately, but they did recently lose to unranked Indiana.

Iowa can use that loss to its advantage and come up with a plan to take down Purdue. It's going to be tough, but you can't count the Hawkeyes out just yet.

Purdue Boilermakers: Can they secure their third road win?

The Boilermakers have been pretty lackluster when traveling. They have a 2-2 record on the road but are 10-1 at home and are 4-0 at neutral sites.

As they set out to face Iowa, the Boilermakers could be without Jaden Ivey, their leading scorer. He's been upgraded to "probable," but most consider him to be a game-time decision. We'll have to see what happens. 

If Purdue is unable to stop Keegan Murray of Iowa, they'll be in trouble. Murray averages 22.8 points per game and is a nightmare from beyond the arc. Shutting him down will help the Boilermakers cover the 2.5-point spread they're favored by.

Defense is priority number one against Iowa, which has college basketball's fifth-highest scoring offense, Purdue ranks No.4.

The Iowa Hawkeyes aren't a team you can underestimate. They have one of college basketball's best offenses and a fairly strong defense to match.

The truth is, Iowa's 14-5 record is actually kind of shocking considering how much talent they have. They'll need every bit of that talent as they face one of the best teams in college basketball. The No.6 Purdue Boilermakers. 

Iowa's key to winning this game is defense as well. Purdue has the fourth-best field goal and three-point percentage. They're shooting 50.13% from the field and 40.09% from the three-point line.

Iowa is going to have a tough time stopping that kind of shooting. If they can't, Purdue will run away with this game. Much like they did when they faced No.17 Illinois a few games back.
