Pittsburgh Steelers at Green Bay Packers Betting Preview/Player Prop

The Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to Green Bay on Sunday for a Week 4 NFL matchup with the Packers, and this game will feature two of the most historic NFL franchises. Both teams were terrific in the previous decade and still have Hall of Fame quarterbacks leading the way.

Pittsburgh comes into this game with a record of 1-2, and they have lost two straight games. The Steelers are falling behind in the AFC North race, and they need to find a way to turn things around in a hurry. 

Green Bay really struggled to begin the season, but the Packers have found a way to turn things around in a hurry. A win on Sunday Night Football over the San Francisco 49ers should give the Packers some momentum heading into this matchup.

Steelers Struggling to Run

The Pittsburgh Steelers are averaging just 53 rushing yards per game this season, and it hasn’t been due to a lack of effort. The offensive line in Pittsburgh has really struggled to begin 2021, and that has turned the Steelers into a pass-first team.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has thrown for 267 yards per game, but he also has thrown three interceptions with a low completion percentage. Roethlisberger is no longer able to simply take over a game, and that hurts the Steelers’ ability to put points on the board. 

The defense has played well for the Steelers, giving up just 22 points per game, but that unit is going to be tested by the Packers in this one. 

Packers Following Their Leader

Aaron Rodgers played poorly in Week 1, but he has racked up six passing touchdowns in the two weeks since that game. Rodgers is the clear leader of this team, and the Packers are tough to beat when he is playing well. 

Green Bay is only averaging 80 rushing yards per game, but Rodgers has been able to get the running backs involved in the passing game. Aaron Jones has two rushing touchdowns and 158 rushing yards, but he is going to have an impact in this game. 

The Packers’ defense continues to struggle at times, allowing nearly 28 points per game. The secondary is going to get tested on Sunday, and the performance of that group will determine this outcome. 

Packers Win Third Straight

This game will feature two of the best quarterbacks of this era facing off, and this could lead to plenty of points being put up on the board. Pittsburgh just relies too much on the passing attack, and that lack of offensive balance is going to haunt them on Sunday afternoon. 

Green Bay has looked sharp since suffering a loss in the season opener, and they are always extremely tough to beat at Lambeau Field. The Steelers haven’t been doing much scoring in recent weeks, and that’s going to keep them from pulling off this upset. 

Pittsburgh won’t get blown out, but they just don’t have enough talent to pick up a win in this one. Take the 6.5 points and bet on the Pittsburgh Steelers in this matchup, but it will be the Green Bay Packers that pick up their third straight victory.

Aaron Jones (-180) To Score A TD

Jones made news recently when it was reported that he had a pocket sowed into his jersey so he could carry his late father’s ashes with him.

He had it added for the Sunday night game against the 49ers and it may have very well inspired him to his best performance of the season with 82 yards (4.3 avg) and a key TD early that helped the Pack build a 17-0 lead.

It was a good sight for Packers fans, who were looking for Jones to recapture his form from last season that saw the 26-year-old go over 1,100 yards rushing with 11 TDs. And his knack for finding the end zone remains uncanny. In his last 33 games, he has scored 35 TDs.

We’ll stick with Jones (-180) this week to continue that trend and score a TD against the Steelers.
