Phoenix Suns at San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview/Player Prop

15 May 2021

The San Antonio Spurs host the Phoenix Suns on Saturday afternoon in what could be a playoff preview. Phoenix is one of the betting favorites to win the NBA title, and the Spurs could also make some noise in the postseason.

Phoenix comes into this game with a record of 49-21, and they have already wrapped up the Pacific Division title. The Suns have struggled a bit on the road, but they are still in second place in the West.

San Antonio did just enough to lock themselves into the 10tha seed in the West. The Spurs have gone just 33-37 on the year and have gone just 2-3 in their last five games.

Phoenix is a 10.5-point favorite on Saturday against the Spurs.

Suns Can Really Score

The addition of Chris Paul to the Phoenix roster has turned this team into one of the best offenses in the NBA. Phoenix is scoring 114.8 points per game while also holding opponents to less than 108 points per night.

Devin Booker continues to be the biggest star for the Suns as he leads the team with 25.5 points per game. Paul is averaging nearly 9.0 assists per game, and he finds ways to set up his teammates for great scoring opportunities.

Phoenix is playing without center Deandre Ayton, and that could affect their defense in this one. The Suns want to push the tempo without their center, and that could create a problem for the Spurs.

Spurs Want to Play Slow

The San Antonio Spurs are not a very deep team, and they will have to slow the pace down on Saturday. San Antonio is scoring just 111.1 points per game, while giving up nearly that many on defense.

DeMar DeRozan leads the Spurs with 21.6 points and 7.0 assists per game, but he won't be on the floor for this matchup. Without DeRozan, finding a way to generate offense could be a challenge for the Spurs.

San Antonio does always do a great job of sharing the basketball, and that can provide for some easy scoring opportunities. The Spurs will need to shoot it well from deep to keep this game close and potentially pull off the upset.

Suns Shine Bright in San Antonio

The San Antonio Spurs are locked into the 10th-seed in the Western Conference, and there is nothing left to play for in the final two regular season games. With this in mind, San Antonio will be resting some starters on Saturday, and this will affect the outcome.

Phoenix is trying to build up some momentum for the playoffs, and their regular starters should be on the floor. The Suns still have plenty left to prove, and they should give a great effort in this game.

Don't expect this game to be close for long as the Suns just have too much offense. Take the Phoenix Suns -12.5 as they roll over the Spurs in San Antonio.

Player Prop

Total Points: Mikal Bridges (+100) Over 14.5

Bridges was coming off one of his worst performances of the season as he scored just 6 points on 3-of-8 shooting (0-3 3Pt) in 38 minutes against Golden State on Tuesday. He rebounded nicely with a 21-point effort on 6-of-9 shooting (3-5 3Pt) against Portland on Thursday.

It’s been that kind of stretch for the third-year pro from Villanova as he is setting career-highs in points (13.5), field goal percentage (53.7) and 3Pt percentage (42.1).

Prior to his slip against the Warriors, Bridges had been even more productive with an average of 17.5 points on 62.2 percent shooting over the previous 8 games.

With the Suns looking for a big performance today as they try to catch the Jazz in the West, we’ll take Bridges (+100) to keep up his hot streak and go over 14.5 points.
