A pair of Eastern Conference NHL teams are set to meet up on Wednesday night as the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Philadelphia Flyers. Toronto comes into this game really struggling, but they aren’t facing a great opponent in this one.

The Philadelphia Players have picked up 12 points to begin the year, but they have also lost three of their last four games. Philadelphia is not expected to be a playoff contender this season, and they have played like that over the last week.

Toronto is another team that is struggling mightily to get things going, as they have now lost four straight games. The Maple Leafs should eventually start to figure things out, but they don’t have a ton of time to waste.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are big betting favorites in this matchup, as the moneyline odds are set at -239.

Flyers Struggling to Score

Philadelphia comes into this game scoring just 2.67 goals per game, and they are going to struggle to score all year. The Flyers have scored on the power play nearly 20 percent of the time, and that might give them a chance in this one.

Kevin Hayes has dished out nine assists up to this point, and he has done his part for the Flyers on offense. The Flyers were shut out in their most recent game, and they will need to find a way to get things going.

The defensive effort for the Flyers has been tremendous, as they are holding opponents to just 2.44 goals against per game.

Toronto Giving Up Goals

The overall statistics show that the Maple Leafs are allowing just 3.00 goals per game this season, but that hasn’t been the case of late. Toronto has allowed four goals in three straight games, and they just aren’t able to find the offense to overcome that.

Ilya Samsonov has been pretty solid in net for the Maple Leafs, as he is allowing just 2.35 goals against on average. Samsonov is stopping 92 percent of shots that he faces, and he will play a key role in this game.

John Tavares leads the Maple Leafs with 10 points on the year, but they have a number of players struggling to get things going. Look for Toronto to play at a fast pace in this game in an attempt to create some odd man rushes.

Maple Leafs Blow Plast the Flyers

Toronto has not been a great offensive team this season, but they are pretty solid on the power play. The Maple Leafs are going to break through on offense at some point, and this seems like the perfect opportunity.

Philadelphia was playing much better than expected to begin the season, but they have started to look like themselves of late. This is a tough matchup for the Flyers on the road, and this is going to be another game in which they just don’t have enough scoring to win.

Bet the Toronto Maple Leafs -1.5 as they are able to pick up a win by at least two goals in this battle with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Prop Picks

Philadelphia (-165) UNDER 2.5 Goals

Philadelphia is averaging 2.7 goals per game on offense, which ranks No. 27 in the NHL, on 26.4 shots per game, which ranks No. 30. Scores have gone UNDER in five of the Flyers’ last six road games.

With Dunkel predicting a Toronto win by the score of 3-1, take the Flyers (-165) to finish UNDER 2.5 goals scored against the Maple Leafs.
