PGA: 3M Tournament Betting Preview

TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota will be the location for this weekend’s PGA event. The 3M Open is next on the list, as we move into the middle of July. Jon Rahm was our winner last week at Ohio for the Memorial. He will sit this one out. The field is not as loaded at the top, but should make for some great fun. According to the latest Dunkel Index, here is a look at some of the betting favorites that you should look at:

Dustin Johnson +1100

While DJ is the betting favorite, he has some work to do to improve. Johnson was brutally bad last week at the Memorial. He did not make the cut, and finished nearly dead last. He shot back to back 80’s. It’s been awhile since he has done that. Johnson will have to improve, and do it quickly to win in Minneapolis. But, he is the most talented player in the field.

Harris English +7500

English has been a cut maker, getting 12/14 events this season. He is looking to build off back to back Top 17 finishes. His 70 in the first round at the Memorial had him in good position to go through the weekend. The last time he missed a cut was back at the Charles Schwab Challenge in early June.

Lucas Glover +3500

In all of Glover’s last five events, he has made the cut and also finished in the Top 40. His worst finish was last week, when he finished 38th at the Memorial. Before that, 23rd, 21st, 20th and 21st. Glover has been impressive with his iron play, finishing fourth in SG approach.. Glover is a good bet to be in contention over the weekend.

Paul Casey +2500

Last weekend at the Memorial was the first time Casey missed a cut this season. He really just wants two holes back, and he would have been playing over the weekend. Look for a large bounce back from Casey this weekend.

Others in Consideration:

Tony Finau +1400

Outside of Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka, probably the most talented player in the field. FInau has finished in the Top 10, 5 times this season. He is also coming off an 8th place finish last week. You got to like his chances at this event.

Jonathan Vegas +6500

After missing the cut last at the Memorial, Vegas is due for a bounce back. If you see his Puerto Rico Open, or RBC Heritage form, you will like the results. This is a guy that can really get hot, and do it quickly. Do not be surprised if Vegas goes low and competes for this championship.

Pat Perez +7500

Betting a little bit of an underdog here, but he has shown the potential before. Perez has finished inside the Top 10, twice this season. He did not play last weekend, but has made back to back cuts this season.

Cam Tringale +10000

Tringale is a great shot in the dark play. While his numbers do not show championship ability just yet, he is one that is ready for a big weekend. Whether he can finish on the final day or not is the big question. Take a flyer on Tringale at +10000.

This should be another great weekend to kick back and enjoy the golf. While this is not the best field of the year, this should be an extremely competitive tournament. Enjoy the golf and make sure you check out the Dunkel Index for all the latest numbers!
