Oklahoma Sooners at Texas Tech Red Raiders Betting Preview

The Texas Tech Red Raiders host the Oklahoma Sooners on Monday night in a monster game in the Big 12 Conference. Both teams have what it takes to go on a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, so this should be a great battle to begin the month of February.

Oklahoma comes into this game with a record of 11-4, and the Sooners have been red-hot of late. The Sooners have won three straight games against Top 25 opponents and continue to climb up the rankings themselves.

Texas Tech has had an up-and-down season to this point, and it is just 4-4 so far in conference action. The Red Raiders snapped a brief two-game losing streak with a win over LSU on Saturday afternoon.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are 6.5-point favorites over the Oklahoma Sooners. 

Sooners Scoring Points

The Sooners are the best offensive team in this matchup, and they can really shoot the ball from deep. Oklahoma has made 122 three-pointers so far this season, and it will look to stretch the Texas Tech defense in this game.

Guard Austin Reaves leads the team with 15.8 points per game, but he was forced to miss the matchup with Alabama on Sunday due to COVID-19 protocols. De’Vion Harmon had 18 points in that win over Alabama, and he will need to be a leader on offense again on Monday night.

Oklahoma is not a dominant defensive team, but it has been able to slow down three really great offenses during this winning streak. The Sooners will need to use that same formula to upset Texas Tech. 

Red Raiders Can Really Defend

The Red Raiders have turned into a perennial powerhouse in college basketball, and they have done so on the defensive end of the floor. Texas Tech is allowing just 62.2 points per game, and that defense can shut down any opponent.

Transfer guard Mac McClung has been the leader on offense for the Red Raiders, leading the team with 17.5 points per game. There are five different players scoring at least 8.7 points per game, and this team has been getting contributions from up and down the roster.

Texas Tech wants to slow this game down and let its suffocating defense take control.

Oklahoma has been on a roll of late, but injuries and COVID-19 are really taking their toll on the Sooners. Oklahoma was able to find a way to beat Alabama, but it will be in for a much tougher test in this game.

Texas Tech can really defend, and it will shut down the Sooners in this matchup. McClung will be the best player on the floor on Monday night, and Texas Tech will have enough offense to create some separation in this matchup.
