The 2022-23 college basketball season is off and running, giving bettors another great sport to wager on. The Kansas Jayhawks host the North Dakota State Bison on Thursday night in a non-conference matchup at Allen Fieldhouse.

North Dakota State is not shy about taking on some great opponents in the non-conference, and this is going to be a huge test. The Bison suffered an 18 points loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks to begin the year.

Kansas comes into this game as the fifth-ranked team in the country, and they are also the defending champions. The Jayhawks blew out Nebraska-Omaha in the season opener, and they did so without head coach Bill Self.

The Kansas Jayhawks are 23.5-point betting favorites at home against the North Dakota State Bison.

Bison Must Make Some Shots

North Dakota State proved that they weren't afraid of the challenge against Arkansas, but they just couldn't keep up. The Bison made just 34 percent of their shots in that game, and they will have to get close to 50 percent to keep this battle close.

Forward Grant Nelson led the way for NDSU in the loss as he poured in 17 points. Transfer guard Luke Yoder did a great job of leading the offense while dishing out four assists, but he will be hounded in this game.

NDSU will likely have to play a zone defense in this game as they can't match up to the Jayhawks in a man-to-man. It's going to take a great effort on the boards for the Bison to keep this game close.

Kansas is Loaded With Weapons

This Kansas team lost a number of players to the NBA after winning the title, but they were able to reload the roster with a great recruiting class. Kansas poured in 89 points in the season opener, and they should be one of the best offensive teams in the country.

Guard Gradey Dick had a huge game for the Jayhawks in his college debut as he poured in 23 points. Dajuan Harris is back to lead the offense for the Jayhawks, and he dished out eight assists to begin the year.

Kansas is playing without head coach Bill Self, and there is always a threat of not being as locked in on the defensive end without the head coach.

Bison Battle Jayhawks in Loss

This game will provide some great experience for NDSU, and they proved in the season opener that they aren't afraid of a challenge. The Bison have some pieces to go on and have a nice season, but this is a pretty massive task.

Kansas is not going to receive a real test until they get to some of the better teams on their schedule, as they just have so much athleticism and size. The Jayhawks are going to eventually pull away in this one, and the entire roster will get into the action.

Take the 23.5 points and bet on the NDSU Bison to provide a battle to Kansas, but it will be the Jayhawks that move to 2-0 by winning comfortably.

Prop Picks

Kansas (-120) UNDER 85.5 Points

North Dakota State allowed an average of 70.1 points per game last year on defense, which ranked No. 183 in Division I. That average remained relatively steady at 70.2 points per game on the road. Scores have gone UNDER in each of the Bison’s last four road game.

With Dunkel predicting a Kansas win by the score of 80-61, take the Jayhawks (-120) to finish UNDER their Vegas team total of 85.5 points versus the Bison.
