NHL Preseason/Sunday's Picks

The Buffalo Sabres and Washington Capitals open up their respective preseasons against each other this afternoon in Washington. Face off is 2:05 pm ET at Capital One Center.

Vegas has Washington listed as a favorite at -160 with an over/under total of 6.

The Capitals are coming off a 44-26-12 record (100 points) in 2021-22 that saw them make the playoffs only to lose in the first round to the Florida Panthers. A number of players, including veterans Nicklas Backstrom, Carl Hagelin and Tom Wilson, are limited in the preseason while recovering from injuries.

The Sabres missed the postseason for the 11^th straight year in 2021-22, but did finish with a 16-13-3 record over their final 32 games after winning just 16 of their first 50. Buffalo also shook up its lineup by moving former first-round draft picks Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart.
