NFL Week 8 Preview
27 October 2022

Week 8 of the NFL season will feature three primetime games yet again, and there is another game set to be played in London. The action on the field continues to heat up, just as the division races are tightening.
Here is a look at the full Week 8 schedule of games, with the Dunkel pick and prediction for each one.
Baltimore Ravens -1.5 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Time: 8:15 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Baltimore 129.591; Tampa Bay 132.448
Dunkel Line & Total: Tampa Bay by 3; 49
Vegas Line & Total: Baltimore by 1 ½; 45
Dunkel Pick: Tampa Bay (+1 ½); Over
The 4-3 Ravens and the 3-4 Buccaneers could both use a win on Thursday Night Football as it’s been a struggle up to this point. Baltimore has to find a way to get stops and Tampa Bay must find some offense. This game should be tight, but the Buccaneers are going to pick up the big win at home.
Denver Broncos at Jacksonville Jaguars -3.0
Time: 9:30 am ET
Dunkel Ratings: Denver 128.415; Jacksonville 127.251
Dunkel Line & Total: Denver by 1; 43
Vegas Line & Total: Jacksonville by 3; 39
Dunkel Pick: Denver (+3); Over
The Broncos and Jaguars meet in London on Sunday for what should be an interesting AFC matchup. Jacksonville has been a huge surprise this year, but it will be Russell Wilson and the Broncos that pull off the small upset in this one.
Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons -5.0
Time: 1:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Carolina 130.906; Atlanta 126.431
Dunkel Line & Total: Carolina by 4 ½; 46
Vegas Line & Total: Atlanta by 5; 42
Dunkel Pick: Carolina (+5); Over
The NFC South Division hasn’t been good in 2022, and two average teams are meeting up in Atlanta. The Panthers seem to be punting on their season with some moves, but they did just stun the Buccaneers. It’s going to be a second straight upset for Carolina as they win on the road in Atlanta.
Chicago Bears at Dallas Cowboys -9.5
Time: 1:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Chicago 123.922; Dallas 142.479
Dunkel Line & Total: Dallas by 18 ½; 36
Vegas Line & Total: Dallas by 9 ½; 44
Dunkel Pick: Dallas (-9 ½); Under
The Bears stunned the Patriots on MNF in Week 7, and now they face a solid Cowboys team in Dallas. Chicago has started to get better play from the offense, but they are still in search of consistency. Dallas can’t afford to lose this game and they will roll to a double-digit win.
Miami Dolphins -3.0 at Detroit Lions
Time: 1:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Miami 131.131; Detroit 122.161
Dunkel Line & Total: Miami by 9; 39
Vegas Line & Total: Miami by 3; 50
Dunkel Pick: Miami (-3); Under
The Lions are improved, but this team still can’t seem to figure out how to win. That’s going to come into play in Week 8 as the Dolphins will win this game by a touchdown or more in Detroit.
Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings -3.5
Time: 1:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Arizona 133.371; Minnesota 129.766
Dunkel Line & Total: Arizona by 3 ½; 53
Vegas Line & Total: Minnesota by 3 ½; 49
Dunkel Pick: Arizona (+3 ½); Over
The 5-1 Vikings face a determined Cardinals team on Sunday in a game that should feature a ton of offense. Arizona has some serious momentum and they are going to take that into Minnesota and upset the Vikings outright.
Las Vegas Raiders -2.0 at New Orleans Saints
Time: 1:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Las Vegas 136.428; New Orleans 126.637
Dunkel Line & Total: Las Vegas by 10; 42
Vegas Line & Total: Las Vegas by 2; 48
Dunkel Pick: Las Vegas (-2); Under
The Saints can’t seem to figure out a quarterback, and the defense hasn’t played dominant football up to this point. Las Vegas is just 2-4 on the year, but they have a roster that is loaded with talent. The Raiders will have a big day on offense as they roll over the Saints.
New England Patriots -1.5 at New York Jets
Time: 1:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: New England 137.503; NY Jets 127.614
Dunkel Line & Total: New England by 10; 38
Vegas Line & Total: New England by 1 ½; 42
Dunkel Pick: New England (-1 ½); Under
After a blowout loss to the Bears in Week 7, the Patriots are on the road to face a surprising Jets team. These AFC East rivals don’t like each other, and New England is going to go on the road and pick up a double-digit win to slow down the Jets party.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles -10.5
Time: 1:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Pittsburgh 124.334; Philadelphia 140.931
Dunkel Line & Total: Philadelphia by 16 ½; 34
Vegas Line & Total: Philadelphia by 10 ½; 44
Dunkel Pick: Philadelphia (-10 ½); Under
The Eagles are the lone remaining unbeaten team in the league and they host their in-state rival in Week 8. Pittsburgh has had trouble finding offense all year long, and that’s going to be a problem in this one. The Eagles are going to win this game by two touchdowns or more.
Tennessee Titans -1.5 at Houston Texans
Time: 4:05 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Tennessee 132.158; Houston 124.012
Dunkel Line & Total: Tennessee 8; 36
Vegas Line & Total: Tennessee by 1 ½; 40
Dunkel Pick: Tennessee (-1 ½); Under
The Titans have won four straight games, and that might be more than the Texans win all season long. Tennessee is going to ride Derrick Henry in this game, and they will eventually pull away for a comfortable win.
Washington Commanders at Indianapolis Colts -3.0
Time: 4:25 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Washington 128.570; Indianapolis 126.969
Dunkel Line & Total: Washington by 1 ½; 36
Vegas Line & Total: Indianapolis by 3; 40
Dunkel Pick: Washington (+3); Under
The Colts are benching Matt Ryan and going with Sam Ehlinger at quarterback. This team is looking for a jumpstart, but it’s going to take more than that in Week 8. Washington will beat the Colts in Indianapolis to pick up a third straight win.
San Francisco 49ers -1.5 at Los Angeles Rams
Time: 4:25 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: San Francisco 130.384; LA Rams 134.200
Dunkel Line & Total: LA Rams by 4; 48
Vegas Line & Total: San Francisco by 1 ½; 43
Dunkel Pick: LA Rams (+1 ½); Over
The NFC West has not been as good as advertised this season and the 49ers and Rams both need a win in this game. San Francisco might be the favorite but it will be the Rams and their defense that take control to win this game.
New York Giants at Seattle Seahawks -3.0
Time: 4:25 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: NY Giants 134.259; Seattle 131.109
Dunkel Line & Total: NY Giants by 3; 55
Vegas Line & Total: Seattle by 3; 45
Dunkel Pick: NY Giants (+3); Over
The Giants are 6-1 and the Seahawks are 4-3 as we head into Week 8. Both teams have been a huge surprise and this should be a big game on Sunday. Take the Giants to pull off the upset as that offense gets the job done again.
Green Bay Packers at Buffalo Bills -10.0
Time: 8:20 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Green Bay 136.116; Buffalo 137.109
Dunkel Line & Total: Buffalo by 1; 43
Vegas Line & Total: Buffalo by 10; 48
Dunkel Pick: Green Bay (+10); Under
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are a mess, and now they have to travel to Buffalo to face the mighty Bills. Josh Allen has his team moving right along, and that offense should have another big day. Giving Aaron Rodgers 10 points is too many, but it will be the Bills that survive with the win.
Cincinnati Bengals -3.5 at Cleveland Browns
Time: 8:15 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Cincinnati 140.293; Cleveland 125.375
Dunkel Line & Total: Cincinnati by 15; 51
Vegas Line & Total: Cincinnati by 3 ½; 48
Dunkel Pick: Cincinnati (-3 ½); Over
After a slow start, the Bengals appear to have figured things out, and that spells bad news for the Browns on MNF. Cleveland has been a mess on offense at times, and it’s going to lead to a blowout win for the Bengals against their in-state rivals.
