Now that the NFL season is over, all eyes will be on next season and trying to find a way to pick the next Super Bowl champion. Teams throughout the league are trying to find a way to improve their chances for next season, and the next few weeks are going to be busy. 

A majority of the NFL teams are looking ahead to the NFL Draft, but others are still trying to make big roster or coaching decisions. Here is a look at three of the biggest NFL stories that have come out over the last few days. 

Jones Returning to Packers

The Green Bay Packers did not have the season that they had hoped for in 2022, as they didn’t even reach the postseason. Green Bay entered this offseason with a ton of question marks, especially when it came to their offense.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has the biggest decision to make when it comes to the Packers, but Green Bay is going to have their star running back in 2023. Running Aaron Jones has reached an agreement with the team on a new contract that will keep him in Green Bay moving forward. 

It was important for the Packers to reach a deal with Jones this early in the offseason so that they know how to plan moving forward. Jones has continued to put up huge numbers in Green Bay despite the offense typically running through Rodgers and the passing game. 

Chiefs Losing Offensive Coordinator

The Kansas City Chiefs might be the reigning Super Bowl champions, but that team is going to be without a key piece to the puzzle moving forward. In a surprising move, Eric Bieniemy has left the Chiefs to become the new offensive coordinator with the Washington Commanders. 

Bieniemy has been interviewing with a number of NFL teams over the last few seasons, but he has always been passed up when it comes to the head coaching position. The Commanders are naming Bieniemy as assistant head coach as well, and that will provide him with more experience moving forward. 

The Kansas City Chiefs named Matt Nagy as the new offensive coordinator with the team, and they are also planning to make him the head coach when Andy Reid retires. Nagy returned to the Chiefs organization this past season after being fired as head coach of the Chicago Bears. 

Rex Ryan Back to the NFL?

The Denver Broncos could be looking to make a strange hire when it comes to their next defensive coordinator, but it’s a name that has had plenty of success in the NFL. According to league sources, the Broncos have interviewed Rex Ryan for their opening at the defensive coordinator position. 

Sean Payton is the new head coach in Denver, and he requested an interview with Ryan and former head coach Vance Joseph. The Broncos are going to be a team that is looking to improve on offense, but they are a franchise that always takes pride in defense. 

Ryan has been working with ESPN since April 2017, but he does have over 30 years of coaching experience in the NFL.
