New York Yankees at Oakland Athletics Betting Preview

Sunday Night Baseball will feature the Oakland Athletics taking on the New York Yankees in a key game in the American League. New York has won two of the first three games of the series, and the A’s are hoping for a series split.

Jordan Montgomery will be making this start, and he has gone 5-5 with a 3.69 ERA so far this season. The Yankees also have a solid bullpen unit, and they have been making things difficult for the Athletics at the plate.

Aaron Judge belted a two-run homer in the loss on Saturday, and he continues to lead the Yankees at the plate. Judge now has 29 home runs with 72 RBIs, but he is surrounded by some other sluggers as well. 

Oakland Has to Find Offense

Oakland has not been hitting the ball well over the last few weeks, and that lack of offense could ultimately keep them from making the playoffs. The Athletics scored just three runs on Saturday, but it was just enough to pick up the win.

Matt Olson has been a one-man wrecking crew at times for the A’s, leading the team with 32 home runs and 83 RBIs. Oakland has a disadvantage in the pitching matchup on Sunday, and that offense will need to take control.

Paul Blackburn is on the mound on Sunday night, and he has gone just 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA so far in 2021. Oakland can’t beat the Yankees in a slugfest, and this pitching staff will need to perform. 

Yankees Offense Bounces Back

Oakland was able to slow down the Yankees offense in the game on Saturday afternoon, but that doesn’t often happen to New York. Even though the Athletics were able to come away with a win, this team still didn’t do much at the plate. 

The starting pitching matchup in this game favors the New York Yankees, and they also clearly have an edge when it comes to offense. Oakland was able to end the Yankees’ long winning streak on Saturday, but New York will waste no time in getting another one going.
