New York Rangers at Pittsburgh Penguins Game 4 Preview/Prop Picks

09 May 2022

The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs continue on Monday night, and there is a big game set to take place in Pittsburgh. The Penguins will be looking to take a commanding 3-1 series lead over the New York Rangers in this game.

New York entered this series as the favorite, but they gave up a home-ice advantage in Game 1. The Rangers were able to win at home in Game 2, but they are currently in desperation mode heading into the game on Monday night.

Pittsburgh picked up a commanding win in Game 3, and they are now the clear favorites to win the series. The Penguins still have some work to do, but they are playing their best hockey of the season.

The New York Rangers are the moneyline betting favorites at -109 over the Pittsburgh Penguins for Game 4 of this series on Monday night.

Rangers Have to Defend

The New York Rangers held opponents to just 2.49 goals per game during the regular season, but they have been a mess on that end of the ice. New York has allowed 13 goals so far in the three games this series, including seven in the Game 3 loss.

Igor Shesterkin continues to be the starting goaltender for the Rangers, but he was removed after allowing four goals in the first period in Game 3. New York has to do a better job in front of Shesterkin, but he also has to improve.

Artemi Panarin had a goal in the Game 3 loss, and he continues to be the best offensive weapon for the Rangers. If New York can’t get stops, then they must find a way to win this game on offense.

Penguins Cruising on Offense

The Pittsburgh Penguins scored 3.3 goals per game during the regular season, and they have found plenty of offense in this series. Pittsburgh has been able to speed up the tempo in this series, and they will look to do the same on Monday night.

Center Jeff Carter had a pair of goals in Game 3, and the Penguins scored twice on the power play. The Penguins have so many offensive weapons, and they will look to be aggressive in Game 4 as well.

Louis Domingue continues to get the starts in net for the Penguins, and he has had an up and down series. The Penguins can still improve on that end of the ice, but the offense is what is carrying this team.

Penguins Pick Up Another Win

New York is not a team that wants to play at a fast pace, but they can’t seem to find a way to slow down the Penguins. The Rangers have been solid on offense in this series, but the defense just continues to come up short.

Pittsburgh now has all of the momentum, and they will feel the energy from the home crowd on Monday night as well. The Penguins are rolling on the offensive end of the ice, and they aren’t going to get slowed down in Game 4.

Bet the Pittsburgh Penguins moneyline as they win again on Monday night to take a 3-1 series lead over the New York Rangers.

Prop Picks

Pittsburgh (+150) OVER 3.5 Goals

Pittsburgh is averaging 3.3 goals per game on offense, which ranks No. 11 in the league, while producing 34.7 shots per game, which ranks No. 6. Scores have gone OVER in 13 of the Penguins’ last 20 home games.

With Dunkel predicting a Pittsburgh home victory by the score of 5-4, take the Penguins (+150) to finish OVER their Vegas team total of 3.5 goals against the Rangers.

Jake Guentzel (+110) Anytime Goalscorer

Guentzel scored 40 goals in 76 games during the regular season, which ranked No. 1 on the Penguins and tied for 15th in the league. The veteran left wing had 26 goals in 40 games during Pittsburgh wins compared with only 14 goals in 36 games during Pittsburgh losses.

With Dunkel predicting a Penguins’ win with the final score going OVER the Vegas total, take Guentzel (+110) to score a goal against the Rangers
