New York Jets at New York Giants Betting Preview/Week 1 NFL Preseason Picks

The New York Jets won just two games a season ago, and they were out of the playoff race before the season really took off. This team is expected to be much improved this season, but competing for a spot in the playoffs still seems unlikely.
Last year, the NFC East was an absolute disaster, and that kept the New York Giants in the playoff hunt throughout the entire season. New York still didn't pick up enough wins to win the division, but it will be in the mix in 2021.
The New York Giants are the betting favorites on Saturday at -2.0, and the betting total has been set at 35.0 total points.
Jets Need to Score Points
Scoring at least 10 points in an NFL game was a challenge for the Jets a season ago, and this team really struggled to throw the ball. The Sam Darnold era has now ended in New York, and it is time for Zach Wilson to lead the franchise.
Wilson is going to see plenty of action in the preseason as the Jets want to make sure that he is comfortable before the season opener. New York also needs to do a great job of running the football to take some pressure off of their QB.
The defense for the Jets has kept the franchise afloat, and it will be the best unit on the team once again. New York is catching a break in this game as the Giants will be resting some stars.
Giants Focused on Division Title
The New York Giants believe that they can win the NFC East, and they aren't worried about what happens in the preseason. This means that quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley aren't going to see much action in these exhibition games.
New York started to build some momentum near the end of the 2020 season, and Jones starting to come into his own. This Giants offense has the potential to be explosive, but that won't be the case in this game.
The defense of New York will get the first chance to line up against Wilson, and that unit will be ready. Look for the Giants to come after the young QB in an effort to make his life difficult.
Jets Fly Past the Giants
The New York Giants had trouble scoring points a season ago, although it wasn't as bad as the New York Jets. Playing without Daniel Jones is not going to make things easy on Saturday, and it's hard to see them doing much scoring.
Zach Wilson is expected to get plenty of playing time for the Jets in this game, and some of that will come against second and third-string defenses. Wilson still has plenty to prove, but he will lead the Jets to some points.
This game should be low-scoring and competitive, but it will be the Jets that pull away in the end. The best bet to make in this game is to take the New York Jets money line as they win this game against their top rival.
